Made a Decision...and got my stuff. :)

Post by Tree House Academy » Fri Apr 10, 2009 2:30 pm

After lots of thought, prayers, worrying, fretting, and more prayers, I have finally decided for 2009-2010 with HOD. I am going to go ahead and do Beyond with my younger son this year. It was just so "him" when I read through the plans. He is young, but my heart really pulled me toward that curriculum over Little Hearts, so I trusted my gut and went with Beyond. Now that I have all of the stuff, I know I made the right decision. Reading through it, I am getting so excited to start. :)

I am also going to do Bigger with my oldest. He would place in Preparing based on age, but I want him to have a year of American History this year. So, we are doing Bigger with the extension package. I know my younger will need to repeat Bigger the following year and I am ready for that challenge. However, since my older son did CHOW this past year, instead of placing him in Preparing for 2010, I am going to go straight to HHTT. That way, I will not be repeating manuals back to back through the next several years and also it will get BOTH of my kids on track with where they would place normally in HOD.

I am now at peace with my decision and I greatly appreciate all of the wonderful replies to my posts from all of you ladies! I will be sure to keep posting as we start our materials. I am very excited and can hardly wait until school starts again next August! :)

Hello Rebecca,
I understand all the praying, worrying and decision making! I am new to HOD also and I have been going through the same thing. It's kind of scary for me as I'm changing from complete textbooks to HOD's way of doing some subjects. :D
So, I've got lots to learn, but I'm really excited about it at the same time!

I am anticipating Box Day! However, I'm not sure if we'll start now or in the fall. :?
Anyway, I felt God's leading in this decision and I'm sure that he will lead me and you also through this transition! :D
So, just wanted to encourage you!

Tina

(update) Oh my! The UPS man arrived while I was typing!!
I will post soon after going through it all!!!! :D

Rebecca, you've made thoughtful and wise decisions. I'm praying you will have a wonderful, blessed year with your little ones. I really do think you've made a great choice! I'm new to HOD also and our situations sound very similiar. We are almost done with CHOW now. I wish I had known about Preparing at the beginning of this year but I know the Lord moves in His Own Time. I probably should have prayed more :? last summer! Anyways, I chose Biggers for my boys. My youngest places well there and I want my oldest to have some additional American History. My plan is to separate them the next year and place my oldest in the Ancients program at that time. I have given some thought to backing my youngest up to Beyond for this year - doing Biggers with the oldest and Beyond with the youngest, just because I hate for my youngest son to miss out on Beyond! But, I don't know. I've prayed alot, so I think I'll stick with doing Biggers with both.

Can't wait to hear about how it goes for you to do Biggers and Beyond together. If my youngest son didn't place so well into Biggers, that's what I'd probably do.

Praying you can rest now and experienced more and more peace about your decision. I just know you are going to love it.
Blessings,
Donna T.

Rebecca,
You and I are doing the exact same thing! I am so excited to get started! It's probably a good thing we can't order anything until July  I have everything else though and we are so excited (did I say how excited we are?)!

Blessings!

Thanks ladies. It sure was a tough decision...especially with my younger. I am actually glad my older needed Am History, because I wouldn't want to go straight to HHTT with him in 5th grade and I wouldn't have wanted to repeat CHOW, so he was a no brainer. It was my little stinker that was just on the fence! In the end, though, I think this was the best choice. Especially just skipping the CHOW for 6th and going straight to Ancients...that means I am not doing guides back to back each year. :)

Rebecca,

I'm so glad that you have been able to sort through the Lord's best for your family. It sounds like you have a very good plan in place and have done much thinking and praying! How wonderful that you have your products in hand and are able to see that the fit looks good! :D

I'm praising the Lord with you today for the sense of peace that He's giving you in your decision. We'll be doing Beyond next year too with my third little guy, and we did Bigger last year. We hope you'll enjoy both programs! :D

Blessings,
Carrie
