(I'm) Reading the books...

Post by momto3girls » Thu Apr 09, 2009 6:38 am

One of the things that I was searching for in a program was good books. We love (good!) books in our house. Several of the books in the HOD catalogue we already have on our shelf. I just bought Bigger at the convention and it included several books that I have not read. I thought I would preview some of the books in the extension pack that my daughter would be reading. They are wonderful! But, I have one complaint. I am spending too much time reading and ignoring my household chores! Seriously, I was enthralled with Freedom Train and was fascinated by Marco Polo in Exploring Planet Earth. Even though I was tempted by a recent thread to start Bigger this year to redeem the loss, I've decided instead to spend the time reading the books in the extension pack. I have found when I'm excited about a book by daughters are excited. I will be very excited next year!

Thanks for the wonderful books, Carrie. You did a great job!

Have you read "Esperanza Rising" yet. OH! So good! I also really appreciate the quality of the books suggested. For me, I just don't have time to read them all, so the ones suggested by HoD are the ones I can wholeheartedly get and let dd go with. She reads a lot in her spare time so I have to have lots more than just the ones we will use for school time and I always know I can get anything off the list I got with DITHOR. I just have to watch for reading level. DD is ambitious and will want to read anything, no matter if it's too hard, but then her comprehension suffers.

Carrie, thanks!

Ooh, Ladies! I know what you mean! When I am reading books for selection within our new programs, I get absolutely enthralled with the stories! I just get that tingling feeling when I know I've come across a real treasure! :D

Happy reading!

Blessings,
Carrie
