I just saw it too. I am so excited about next year (already ordered). This year has gone so well with my 6 and 8 year olds in Beyond (8 weeks to go!). I am so glad my 11 year old will get to have the same experience with Hearts for Him next year.

Get to the point why don't you? Well said!

And I thought nothing would be going on here with Carrie on her way to a conference (I think I read that in one of her posts) - I was wrong! CTC looks great! I can't wait for ds to do it, but now that I've seen a whole week I'm glad we're going to do Preparing first and work on some skills there more consistently. CTC is so rich!

Yes! I noticed. I actually printed the sample pages out earlier today and am literally praying over them :) ! I have everything for Biggers and The Plan is to combine my sons in that program for next year. But, now I feel like my oldest son would love CTC. It is right up his alley, so to speak. He loves biology and natural history. The history books seem perfect for him. Actually, everything about CTC looks perfect for him. I'm just not sure because we are new to HOD (next year) and I wonder how I'd teach two programs?? There's just enough independent work in CTC that causes me to think it will be manageable. I just don't know what to do now! I'm praying about it. Please pray for me! I don't want my son to miss out on the four year history cycle that Carrie is writing and I'm really convinced that we will be sticking with HOD long-term.

I need prayers for wisdom (and maybe for confidence to just go for it :? )!!

I'll pray for you! I was in a similiar boat and finally decided to go with separate programs. Here's the thread where I talk about why.

Daisy, oh yes, it was helpful to read your thoughts. Yours are so similiar to mine! If I decide to do two programs, I'll be doing the same ones that you will be doing! I am looking forward to having some time with my husband later tonight, so I can consult him. I think I already know what he will advise. I think he will advise me to teach two programs. So, you are thinking that your children can do much of their own reading? I need to consider that. My oldest son LOVES to read. It's his favorite past-time. He is a very strong reader but I am reading almost all of his school books to him still and as soon as school is done, he grabs his own books and reads all afternoon! He is very self-educated in the areas of his own interests (he loves science & nature) and I'm starting to think I'm "spoon-feeding" him.

I think I'm talking myself into this  .

And, CTC is a four day schedule. That sounds really good!

Donna, My 9 year old will be doing Bigger if you need confirmation that it is OK to combine in Bigger. That is where my 7 and 9 year olds will be next year. My 11 year old has already been through the MFW cycle with her older brothers, so that is why she is going to do Hearts for Him.

Thank you! I think going either way would work fine for us. After praying and talking to my husband, we are leaning towards doing the two programs. For a nine year old, yes, I'd definately do Biggers. I do wish we had spent more time on American History during the grammar years. He completed Adventures in MFW and we stretched it out a little, so he has had some American History plus he is getting some over the next couple of months as we finish up the very end of a two year World History cycle. He will be ten on Good Friday!

Thanks again.

Ladies,

I am so excited that the sample week is up! We were thrilled to get it online as we headed out the door for convention. :D We'll pray for your decision-making processes as you peruse the sample for CTC. I hope it helps guide each of you in the direction the Lord desires for your families! We'll be doing CTC, Beyond, and LHTH next year (along with my oldest son getting a chance to pilot much of our next program. So, we'll be enjoying the journey with each of you! 8)

Blessings,
Carrie

I just noticed today that Week at a Glance is up and started reading it! When Preparing was out I got so excited and blessed to see it.
Well, I am sitting here in absolute astonishment of how incredibly well this guide was written. How the Lord is woven through all the subjects.
Carrie and Julie I must say that you were prayed up when you wrote this guide. The Lord has blessed you with immense wisdom and I want you to know that I praise my God for you. For your willingness to serve Him in this capacity and to take a stand for Christ through your curriculum.
I had chills as I read the prayer starters.
We ladies that have been lead to HOD curriculum are so blessed!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
