Does anyone go "up" a level for right side of teacher's guid

Post by sted » Wed Apr 01, 2009 3:40 pm

I just had an interesting thought. Can one use a guide that's a higher one if they are doing Bigger and their daughter is really good with LA. (SHE's 10) Could she use Preparing or the newest Learning Basic Skills part and still keep on the Bigger History? I guess the problem would be, the following year, she'd have already done half that program and then what??

Thanks,
Shannon

Hi Shannon,

Yes, you can do that. I think alot of us that combine children do that. For example I have a son who is doing left side of Beyond with his younger brother and right side of Bigger because it is on his level. so, do what's best for your brood!

sted,

Yes! Florence did a great job of answering your question. We have many moms who do this in order to combine their kiddos for the Learning Through History part of the plans but still have appropriate placement language arts and math-wise. :D

Then, the next year you'd just move your kiddos onto Preparing Hearts for history and have your then 11 year old do the right side from Creation to Christ if needed. :D

Blessings,
Carrie

What about going "down" a level on the right side of the teacher's grid? Would that work? Or are there writing assignments on the left (history) side that would be too advanced?

my 3rd grade son is using Bigger this year and we are doing 3rd grade Rod and Staff, and MUS Gamma.
My 1st grader is doing Bigger science, too, without a hitch. On the rarest of rare occasions, I will make the memory verse shorter for him [when it was rather lengthy.]
