New on board--introducing myself

Post by icukirt » Thu Mar 19, 2009 9:22 pm

I just wanted to say a quick hello and introduce myself. I am Kirstin, wife to Scott, who recently retired from the AF (and has put his paperwork in to go back on active duty). We are currently living in the DC area, but are waiting to see where the Lord will take us next. I have gone back to work as an ER nurse 2 shifts/week during our time of transition so my husband has taken over some of our kindergarten homeschooling. I must say he has a knack for it and I believe it has done incredible things for his relationship with the kids.

We have a son DS, 5 1/2 and DD 2. My husband also has a 14 yr old DS who goes to school at a Christian school in Missouri. We will be joining the HOD family next year for our 5 yr old.

In my spare time I enjoy photography, scrapbooking, quilting and getting outside to do just about anything. We are a bicycle riding family!!

I look forward to starting HOD next year...more than likely LHFHG.

Kirstin

Welcome Kirsten! My husband also helps out with homeschooling! Right now I have to work 3 nights a week, so I need the help or I would be a nutcase. We have a 5 yr-old girl and 18 month-old boy. He also has 3 delightful daughters from a previous marriage. Sounds like we a have a lot in common. :D Hope we can be an encouragement and help to you and your family.

Blessings,
Nancy

Kirstin,

Welcome to the boards! We're glad you're here! We're currently using LHFHG with our third son and really enjoying ourselves. If you get a chance for your hubby to use it for schooling your 5 year old child, we pray they will enjoy it too.

We look forward to getting to know you better. :D

Blessings,
Carrie

Welcome Kirstin! I am new here myself and will start HOD this coming fall. This looks to be a wonderful journey. Neat to see a military family on board. My oldest son is in the US Marine Corps and I am still learning about military life for him. I live up north in Minnesota. Would love to see more of your postings here,Judith

Welcome to the HOD Board, Kirstin! :D We've used LHFHG twice and loved it both times. I like what you said about "waiting to see where the Lord will take us next" - that is a wonderful attitude to have. I think you will find that HOD keeps the Lord part of everyday learning in a great way. :D I am newly a bicycling mom (if a mile on a country road counts, that is  ). I load up our 2 yo in the bike trailer behind my bike, and my other 2 sons hop on their bikes - away we go. It is often our outing when my dh is traveling. You will find you have a lot of common with the ladies on this board - thanks for introducing yourself!!! :D

In Christ,
Julie :)

Kristin welcome! It is so wonderful that your husband is enjoying hsing. He sounds like a wonderful man and we know that he is because he was willing to serve his country. Your family sounds like a lot of fun. I think you will really love HOD. It's God honoring and a lot of fun to use. We feel like we are building memories that will last a life time using HOD. I know you will too. Welcome!
