Any HOD user's with 7th graders?
I'm thinking ahead for future years. ( My dd will only be in 6th next year.) Do you find it necessary in these junior high grades when using HOD, to supplement their Science with something like Apologia's General Science? Just curious. That was something that just popped into my mind today, that I hadn't thought about before. Thanks!

Hi,
I am new to HOD myself, but if you do a search on "older students" you will find a lot of information about what other's are doing.

Re: Any HOD user's with 7th graders?
My son is sort of in a grade 6/7 combo. I thought of placing him in Apologia General Science, but I decided to let him finish his Apologia Swimming Creatures along with doing the science in Preparing. I truly think that the literature-based approach to science in the upper levels of HOD will be plenty to prepare him for high school level sciences. He was already 1/2 way through Swimming Creatures and wanted to finish it, or we'd only be doing the science in Preparing right now.
I do think you need to consider what his strength/weaknesses are and your goals for him. I really wanted to spend this year working on my son's writing skills and turning his heart to the Lord daily. Preparing is meeting those needs beyond my expectations! If my son was doing super well in other areas and I felt I wanted to challenge him in science, I might have gone with General Science. KWIM?
Oh, and I'll add that my daughter has only had a smattering of science and is doing Apologia Physical Science. She's enjoying it, understanding it, and doing fine. Not doing General Science first doesn't seem to have caused any problems.
