I'm so looking forward to tomorrow's lessons, though I like it better when I get to do all the reading.

A Great Day
I just wanted to say what a great day we had with HOD today in spite of colds, nagging coughs and the like. My 8yo had to do the reading for me because I can't read without coughing, but we got ALL of our work done today in about 3 hours for both kids. And the bonus was that my 8yo didn't fight me on any writing yesterday or today.
I'm so looking forward to tomorrow's lessons, though I like it better when I get to do all the reading.

Re: A Great Day
HOD is such a blessing! So far we've used Preparing through sickness, frozen plumbing, crazy schedules with taking my mom to doctor appointments, and more! The amazing thing is, we are able to stick to the HOD plans and accomplish so much!
As for writing, my son has always hated it. But with HOD he is writing more than before and that has made all the difference. You'd think it would make things just awful to be asked to do more of something you dislike. No. The fact is that no one likes to do something they aren't good at, and their skills can't improve unless they practice. Now that he can no longer just fill in blanks in a workbook, his writing is really improving with daily use! He's getting excited to see how much writing he can actually do.
The other new thing I've seen developing in him is drawing. His older sister has always been the artist type, but Sam has never done much drawing or art projects. He's loving this part of HOD. When he finished his last HOD assignment in his workbox Monday, he didn't ask to play outside, get on the computer, or anything like that. . .he actually said, "Yes! I'm done. . .now I can draw!" I almost fell off my chair from the shock! Loving this HOD!

Lee Ann and Jen,
I'm so glad to hear about your good days! I'm so sorry that you've both had some challenges lately with health, but it is good to know you've been able to go forward with your school in spite of it. I've found the same to be true here. I'm glad both of your boys are coming along in the writing department. Writing can be such a challenging area for boys!
Thanks for sharing your joy with us today! It was just the ray of sunshine I needed.
Blessings,
Carrie
