need a chuckle?

Post by mamaloves4 » Tue Mar 10, 2009 10:57 am

Hello,

I enjoy visiting this board and often have a cup of tea or a child with me! I have shared in the past how we are so enjoying the poetry box in Preparing and today my dd wrote a poem that gave me what I needed most lately and that was a laugh (anyone else suffering from late winter blues?) I decided to share it with you. We are on Unit 16 and she needed to write creatively from the poem 'The Hayloft'. She was suppose to write a poem based on a place she fondly remembers. Okay---no sentiment here! She picked Burger King! (side note: we are 35 miles from the nearest Burger King)

Burger King
Sometimes crowded, sometimes not;
During the day,Burger King just doesn't stop.
Lots of food choices, lots of pop,
The pop Sprite gurgles and bops.
Golden and warm, the chicken nuggets are
To satisfy the chicken nugget lovers heart.
Brown and cheesy, the cheese burgers I like,
I ride their faster and faster on my bike.
Less and less people stay, but go by
To their cars so say Bye-bye.

anyway--I hope you got tickled by this--I sure did--either that or I really am depressed if a silly little poem makes me laugh!

enjoy the day!

Awesome!

That poem really spoke to me...my tummy that is, I really want a hamburger now in a serious way!

Joking aside, that was a really well done poem even if it was about Burger King. So perfectly descriptive!

   What a fun poem! Of course it's lunch here and we just had P B & J sandwiches, so a burger sounds pretty tempting! You'll have to tell your dd she had everyone on the board craving BK with her excellent descriptions. BTW - I used all of the pics you sent for the PHFHG photobook - thanks!

Well, I just had lunch and honestly I'm not hungry, but I definetely want a Sprite now!! :D I don't even drink sprite that often, I'm much more of a pepsi girl (when I do drink pop), but after reading that poem I definetely want sprite!

Honestly though, what a great poem!

That's so cute.. you'll definitely have to keep that one. Maybe to read on her wedding day or something? We'll be doing this activity with my girls tomorrow.. I can only imagine what they'll come up with, too!

Thanks for sharing!

Jess,

What a hoot! :D That was just the laugh I needed today. And... she did a great job of writing descriptively. I love it when kiddos get to share their personalities through their writing!

Thanks for sharing!
