Our First Day!
Our First Day!
I LOVED it! I am in the learning curve but LOVED our day. I blogged pictures along with my favorite and least favorite things. I normally blog school once a week (if that) but I was excited enough to blog our first day!

Re: Ours too
LOL, I got your comment. I'm gonna have to learn how to record sound so you can hear him. I'm still not sure when it happened? How did my sweet little boy grow up to tower over me?! He is such a blessing to my heart! My brain cannot fathom that next year he will be a JUNIOR?!annaz wrote:We started today as well and we had a great first day in Beyond! My dd loved the carpet "earth" mapping out the continents!
You know this is a good curriculum when you don't need to prepare and organize for weeks before starting!
I'm off to read your blog!

I loved your blog pics, Mary! What darling children you have - there is just something about seeing your oldest read to your youngers that catches at a mom's heart, isn't there? I feel that way too, and I bet your son made a FANTASTIC Granny Fox impersonator!!!
Annaz - I just finished Beyond... last year, and I remember doing that activity. What a fun year!
So excited for you two!!! You know, seeing Mary's blog got me thinking about if there would be a way for us to kind of have a scrapbook of HOD pics somewhere? Maybe I'll post that question. Wouldn't that be neat?!? A picture really is worth a thousand words, isn't it?

I blogged part of our year once and it was so time consuming...Mary I don't know how you do it. But I'd load pics then they wouldn't show, then I couldn't get the writing in the right place. Then I changed sites and went to homeschoolblogger, but then they changed something on it and I stopped. UGH. I guess I'm not that computer savvy (sp?). But after Mary blogged HOD's incoming boxes, it looked so exciting, so I went and took pics of mine too. I haven't decided whether or not to blog, but I will at least scrapbook our year if nothing else. It's something that'll keep me off the computer, be less frustrating for me and still have something to show for our year.my3sons wrote: You know, seeing Mary's blog got me thinking about if there would be a way for us to kind of have a scrapbook of HOD pics somewhere? I totally understand your dilemma. In this season it works GREAT for me. Also, I've been blogging for almost 3 years so I'm much quicker than I was when we started. I have a "system" in place. However, I could see that it might be difficult with small children.annaz wrote:I blogged part of our year once and it was so time consuming...Mary I don't know how you do it. I throw my camera stick in my computer and let it download while I do something else.
Later, I move them to photobucket and while they download I do something else.
I go back and size them and then blog them.
I do have a 16 year old who gives me breaks to complete tasks I'm working on and I think this helps. The one BIG PRO for blogging(for me) is the memories! They are documented. You can go all the way back to August of 2005 and follow our life.

my3sons,
You know Time4Learning has a gallery on their website of our kids doing their work: http://www.time4learning.com (it's on the message board) Is that what you were thinking?

Mary and Annaz,
I'm so glad you ladies had a good first day. You are in the learning curve for this first week or so, but after that it becomes much smoother.
Mary, I loved the pictures of your boys. My favorite was of your older son reading to your youngers, although the smile on your little guys' faces on the other pics were so precious too.
We'll pray the rest of your week will go well, ladies. Thanks for taking the time to share.
Blessings,
Carrie

Hi Mary!
O.k. I must be having computer brain freeze today because I can't figure out the Time4learning scrapbook thing. How does it work, and what do you think it would take to do that connected with the message board or the HOD site? (Not that I'm volunteering Carrie and her hubbie for that task - it could be a huge thing to take on! And I'm not sure about server space needed?)
This is probably an "out-there" idea I'm having! I just enjoyed your pics so much, and I'm just encouraged when I see others doing HOD's things - it brings back happy memories for me, and also gives me things to celebrate being able to look ahead to doing eventually! Probably an idea to go quietly into the night... or is it easier than I'm imagining? By the way, feel free to answer "I don't know!" to any and all of what I just said!
Anyway, I'm happy for your happy school day, Mary! Hooray!
