The Reading Lesson... to purchase with the CD or not?
My children don't do a whole lot on the computer. My oldest, age 8, is learning Keyboarding using Type to Learn, which I like.
Every once in awhile I pull up starfall.com, and the 7yo and 8yo will have some fun with that.
My time is limited, though, and I'm just wondering if I'd regret not getting the CD, if it could free up some of my time and keep my kindergartener learning with something he'd enjoy. Or should I just stick with starfall since it's free?
Please give me your feedback if you've used it. Thanks.

Re: The Reading Lesson... to purchase with the CD or not?
I have the reading lessons and I did not get the CD with it. I think they have so many free website out their to get some time learning the computer. I also have typing program for my kids and that seems to be enough for now. Later we may get more CD's on how to operate a computer but for now they really don't need eveything. Sometimes it is just so over whelming with all the things you could do with your kids. Pick what you really like and if things are going fine now I don't see why you would need to do more. I think with the CD you need to be their with them anyways to help them along so I don't think it would really free up any time. Just my thoughts, but you do what you feel God is leading you to do!

I'm using the Reading Lesson, and we're in the middle of "Lesson 3". My dd is really enjoying it. We have the CD, and she loves getting to use it! The games on the CD match up with the exact words that you're reading in the lesson in the book, so it helps reinforce what we're learning. She likes the starfall website, but feels like this is her special "reading game" so it's more grown-up.

Do you need to sit along side her while she does it? Or can she do it independently?

Re: The Reading Lesson... to purchase with the CD or not?
The first time we put it in, I was close by, and we had to figure out where to "click" to move on to the next thing. But, I let her do it by herself after that. If she gets stuck (or her little brother climbs on the desk and touches something he's not supposed to
), I have to rescue it. We're moving pretty slowly through the book. She always wants to read more than 3 pages, but we try to stick with about 3. (And I repeat the previous page or 2 on the next day to make sure we don't go too fast.) So, she's on the same "lesson" on the CD for several days, so she knows what to expect it to do.
I sure think that you could let the child do it on his/her own. That's what I'm doing anyway!

We bought our coy used and the cd doesn't work right. So we don't use it. We're tracking along just fine without it. Either way you decide will work...

We are going through The Reading Lesson with both of my girls. They love the cd! I was like you debating whether or not to get it. I went ahead and got it, and I am glad we did. It really helps reinforce what they are learning, and they have fun with it.! We do at least 3 pages a day in the book, then once they do that, they are free to do the lesson on the computer.

Love the CD. I use it as a reward and for us it is a huge part of the program. You can do it without it I just think the CD makes it work more like magic. It is an extremely effortless program when combined with the CD. When they get stuck I plug them in the CD and wait a day and whala, we're on the road again.
I highly recommend the CD. It is well worth the money.
