Hi!
We had another great week! We finished up Unit 16 in Preparing. I have started reading our history right after Bible in the morning & I feel it really helps my sanity. Feeling fresh in the morning & knowing that my bulk reading is done while we eat & clean up breakfast is actually going better than us doing math & LA first....who knew?!
We had great fun learning about Greece & Rome. Alexander the Great & the stories of all the battles to conquer different countries was very exciting. My girls made wonderful Greek Amphoras....greek pottery, vases. The girls are excited to start 2 new books....The Fountain of Life & Little Miriam of Galilee. We will start tomorrow though, we had a late start today! We will also do our star experiment tomorrow...
I stopped doing LHTH with my ds4. We are just focusing on what we learned so far. We got up to the letter F & I see he needs more time to get these letters down. So, we still read our bible, listen to the great cd & do the fingerplays we learned...he loves that! 8) We also just started Explode The Code, the Get ready For the Code book. He really is enjoying that. I also have him making play dough letters everyday to help his fine motor skillls. This way I can pick up LHTH for his pre-K year when he will be 5. I already bought LHFHG to do with him for K/first grade. :)

here are some pics of our Greek vases....Amphoras

I'll bump this to the top, as I accidentally answered another post below it and bumped this thread down the board. :D

Just a quick reply today. I wanted to share just how much my ds 5 LOVES his bible: The New Bible in Pictures for Little Eyes. I have it sitting on our end table in the living room instead of packed away on a shelf because he would ask to look at it so often. Now he is often found sitting on the couch poring over the pages trying to 'read' the stories. He also takes it and copies words onto paper from it...last night he did part of the title and the author's name. He absolutely adores his Bible, and I love that. I've had other bibles for him and they were never this special to him. There's just something about this one that draws him in...so thanks, Carrie, for the recommendation.

We are moving forward in Bigger...though we've gone a bit slower again over the last week due to adding in some health for state requirements, and some book reports for books the kids have read recently on their own. We also took time to prepare Thank You cards (finally) for Christmas and birthday gifts they received. They are still ahead in their English and Math, so that helps me to feel we are still progressing. I doubt we will actually finish the manual this year, since the baby's arrival is bound to throw us off a bit. But, we can always work a couple days a week this summer to 'finish' if I want to. We plan to keep working on math and english over the summer anyway, so it will be easy to add a day or two a week of the rest of it, too. We just got Guns for General Washington (extension pack selection) from the library, as well as Tucker's Countryside (my son's request) to read as our fantasy story time book. We've really enjoyed our time with Ben Franklin and Sarah Bishop...but those books are almost finished so we had to get the next ones in order...

That's about it for now. Looking forward to reading about what others have been up to...
