I have just got to say thanks!!!

Post by 7mommy » Tue Nov 18, 2008 4:24 pm

We have had a crazy few months going on here and my thoughts about school this summer went out the window. So while I intended starting LHFHG, we are still only on wk 8 of LHTH. But my 6yo ds and I just love this curriculum. The letter sounds stick in his head and it works so well for us. Before this, we were doing workbooks that my other dc loved. But he was bored to tears and fought me so much. But he loves this book. And he really likes the finger plays.

I broke my leg last week and it is a long story. I was told it was a mere ankle sprain and found out yesterday my leg broken, too. Really, I knew already, but a orthopedist told me. Anyway, I have been doing school from the couch for two weeks now and it works. Yeah!! We do some things on the floor next to me and painting at the table with the teens helping. We put towels down and he played with the water in dishpans next to me. His sister called him away and we colored the water. He was surprised when he came back, but he knew exactly what it was supposed to be. He wanted to still play so we got him fresh water. He just got done gluing yarn to his letter g's. I always think that these things will be fun. He hates messy things. A few weeks ago I asked him to scoop the seeds out of a pumpkin and put them in a collander. My older kids would have loved doing this at his age. Not him!! So with the gluing today I was in hysterics because he got both hands sticky and could not get the yarn off of his hands. When I had him make bean letters a second time, he complained, but I think he is secretly enjoying it. :D

My oldest dd is 16 and has always been homeschooled so I have been at this awhile. I have never found anything as fun as this curriculum and so easy for a mom to do. And as a mom of 6, I can do school with my little one and we both love it. I will be so sorry to finish this book, but I can't wait to start the next one. He really wants to read, but he doesn't know his sounds yet so that is why we are working through LHTH first. I am so glad I chose to do that. So much fun!!!!

Thank you so much for giving me so many happy days so far with my little guy!!

Becca isn't it great how HOD can really work around your life no matter what is going on in your life. :D We have had so many things happening this year and health issues that slowed me down. It has been such a blessing to have something so flexible yet still so open and go. So glad HOD is blessing you. Hope your ankle is better soon. The couch thing may catch on for you. We do all our reading for HOD on the couch. It's so cozy.

Hope you are feeling better soon and glad you are loving it! :D

I'm so sorry about your leg! That is very difficult indeed! I pray you'll have the healing that only the Lord can provide.

I'm glad that you're finding school from the couch works with HOD. We found that to be true too when I was on "bedrest" with each of my pregnancies. The couch became my permanent residence until I couldn't put off delivery any longer.

Thanks for sharing. :D

Blessings,
Carrie
