My smile for the day-hymn lyric misquote
My daughters are learning "Amazing Grace" this week. My 9 year-old asked me, very seriously, "Mom, what does, "He will my shield and POTION be" mean?
I tried hard not to laugh...or tried not to laugh too hard... -then promptly explained the correct lyric

Can I tell you how embarrassed I was when my kids heard the hymn we sang on TV and were very excited they sang the same song that HOD did.
Time to start going to the early church service instead of the later relaxed one I guess.

When ds was probably about 2.5, he learned "Holy Holy Holy" from his Baby Praise video and he sang the last line "Blessed train and a T"! These little ones crack me up.

My son confused Peter Rabbit, which we were reading, with Peter from the Bible and thought Peter Rabbit was walking on the water to meet Jesus. He told me, "I was just so worried Peter Rabbit was being chased by Reddy Fox as he met Jesus." That was when I knew we had a mistaken identity with "Peter". He finds this story very funny himself now that he is older!
Enjoyed LHTH to USII

Just this past December my children and I were all singing in the car. We were singing "Holly Jolly Christmas" which is kind of a silly song, but it was being played on the radio and we were singing along!
There's a line in the song that says, "Somebody waits for you. Kiss her once for me."
In a nice, loud, and clear voice my 8yo mistakenly sang, "Somebody waits for you. Gizzards wait for me!"
Of course, she was quickly corrected. She said, "I always wondered why the song made it sound so good to have gizzards waiting for you."

These stories of mix-ups are so cute! When my second son was doing the Emerging Reader Set and was reading from his "Beginner's Bible" aloud to me, I wasn't paying that close of attention one day because I was holding the baby during the reading.
My older son kept reading "Elshey" did this and "Elshey" did that..., and I said I don't think there's an "Elshey" in the Bible, are you sure that is what it is supposed to be? He was adamant that he was right and pointed to the word. It was Elisha! We spent the next many stories trying to overcome "Elshey", as the name had stuck in his head. Even the other day, he said "Elshey" again, and then promptly corrected himself with a smile!
Those mispronunciations really stick sometime!
Have a great Sunday!
