OT: Moments that melt my heart!

Post by Samuel'sMommy » Thu Sep 25, 2008 1:32 pm

So, I can't stand silence and always have either Christian radio or a Christian CD on if we are driving or at home for background noise (trying not to leave the TV on so much :D ) The other day, DH and I decided to drive up to Cades Cove for the day. We were driving around the loop looking for animals, had the windows rolled down, and the radio off just enjoying the day. I heard Samuel singing in the backseat. I listened for a minute because it sounded familiar but I wasn't sure exactly what he was singing. Finally it hit me. I turned to DH and said, "Do you hear what he's singing?", DH said, "It sound's familiar but I'm not sure what". Ladies, my 3 year old was singing the chorus to Bring the Rain. If you've never heard this song, it's absolutely amazing and one of my favorites. This is what he was singing:
Bring me joy, bring me peace
Bring the chance to be free
Bring me anything that brings You glory
And I know there'll be days
When this life brings me pain
But if that's what it takes to praise You
Jesus, bring the rain
DH turned to me and said, "It's things like this that remind me what a great job you're doing with him at home and how important it is for you to be there with him." I almost started crying! I couldn't believe DH would say something like that. It's very out of character for him.

Then this afternoon, we were driving home from MOPS and I had been talking on the phone to my mom so I had the radio off. Once again, Samuel was singing in the backseat. It took me a minute to figure out what it was, but he was singing the chorus of East to West, another one of my all time favorite songs. If you've never heard it, here's the words:
Jesus can you show me
Just how far the East is from the West
Cause I can't bear to see the man I've been
Come rising up in me again
In the arms of your mercy I find rest
Cause you know just how far the East is from the West
From one scarred hand to the other

I never even thought Samuel was listening to the radio. He's usually playing or talking to himself when it's on.

Yes! I have had the exact same experience with both my boys. Except for my youngest son it was "Open the Eyes of My Heart" and for the older one it was "How Great is Our God." Absolutely precious. :) And what a testament to how what we expose ourselves to as adults filters down to our precious babies.

Oh how wonderful is that! You know all of that is going right into his little heart. How wonderful! :D

It's amazing how much they listen when we don't think they are! What a wonderful moment for your family!
