no spelling words? My friend let me look at her Beyond LHFHG .... and I was looking through it this afternoon. I was looking in the back and saw the spelling list. Do LHFHG do this?
thanks

I'm pretty sure LHFHG does not have spelling words; they start in Beyond...Maybe Carrie will come on to explain more about the reason for this. I do know that the CM approach is a bit more laid back, so that could be why.

The focus in Little Hearts is learning HOW to read - phonics lessons are scheduled, as well as beginning handwriting skills. I think most programs don't start spelling until a child has already learned to read.

There are no spelling lists in my LHFHG but then I quite like that-I have a reluctant writer.I think spelling is something we could happily wait for

I could wait too!!

Now that I think about it... yes I am sure that is why.. since the student/child is learning phonics. I love the CM way... never been able to grasp it completely. Our first son (who is 23 & married) was ONLY Abeka. No love of learning.... just do the next thing.
I have been hs-ing for 18 yrs... graduated two. We do some Abeka still for the high school kiddos.
but I sure like this way best.

Teena,
The moms on the board answered your questions so well!

I agree that spelling lists do not begin until kiddos have much of their phonics down. So, we begin spelling lists in "Beyond..". Often fine motor skills lag behind reading skills, so by waiting a little longer to begin the spelling portion, kiddos are MUCH more sucessful!
Blessings,
Carrie
