DITHOR - How many pages?

Post by wdworkman » Tue Aug 19, 2008 10:14 am

We'll be starting school next week & I'm looking ahead to our DITHOR selections. How many pages do you usually schedule?

My son is 10 yo. The books I have picked out are generally marked 4th-6th grade level. My first plan was to use two books for the first genre - one for 10 days, the other for 5 - which would mean reading about 10 pages a day. The more I think about it, I'm leaning towards doing just one book at 5 pages per day to start out. He's been reading a chapter a day over the summer (admittedly not every day!), but that wasn't on top of other schoolwork. Although reading is definitely not his favorite, he'll usually do it without complaints when asked. Also, I want to make this first experience with DITHOR a good one with hopes of using it for years to come.

How do you all handle this?

Janet,

We often go for the fewer pages done better rule here! This also helps keeps the lessons short and moving along CM-style. However, during their free time my boys consume their "non-school" books as quickly as they desire!

Everyone does it differently, though, so some other moms may chime in here with their advice. :D

Blessings,
Carrie
