I'm only on Day 6 of Bigger, so I"m not sure how qualified I am to respond here yet, but I will tell you what I know.
This was the easiest and most fun first week of school we have ever had in 6 years of homeschooling. I love how the Bible is woven throughout and my children are applying the truths we discuss to the rest of their days, not just Bible time. They are striving to demonstrate the character qualities we have discussed. They LOVE the poetry which is something I've never made time for before. They anticipate the new activity that they will get to do each day - something which I've often skipped before since we did not have time. HOD is making me into the kind of teacher that I've always wanted to be - since I am not a crafty person, my kids always missed out on that. We are finishing ealier than we ever have, but we are covering more than we ever have! Now THAT is a gift!

Re: Need Your Help!
I am currently using LHFHG for my 5 1/2 year old and I love it because I can put her activities and supplies in a backpack for the day and work on it at the doctors office. We are at the doctor's at least once a week because of my husband's health and HOD is so portable that we are still able to complete all 5 days in a week. It just goes where we go. I know she is getting the complete and Godly education my husband and I desire for her even though I am not spending hours every week planning. I just open the book and go.

I'm sure I can't say all the good things about HOD in a soundbite

I like it because it's easy to use as is OR easy to adjust to your schedule or learning needs.
I feel like Carrie came to my house, spent time with me, and wrote me a curriculum. It is so well designed that I can make it completely my own with very little preparation or modification.
We can go as quickly or as slowly as my boys need to in order to cover the material. There's no "monday, tuesday" or dates on the daily lesson plans-which is fabulous for my disorganized (betty?) self, but there is enough organization in the plans for my organized (olive?) self to thrive.
Plus I never see much mention of the number one reason I chose this curriculum years ago: affordability. The quality of the teacher's guide, in and of itself is an amazing value. I would (and do) gladly pony up the cash for quality, but to find such an amazing curriculum that is also extremely affordable is not only a fabulous deal, it appeals to the bargain hunter in me!
Other full curriculums I've used and/or looked into were much more expensive.
Charlotte Mason! I love the focus on short lessons, living books, and quality materials. This curriculum is not only helping my boys learn the reading, writing and arithmetic they need, it's helping my family become a closer family through shared learning experiences and the complete reliance on the Lord that is evident through the entire curriculum-bible and learning about the Lord is not just relegated to another subject to cover in a day's worth of assignments.
and hey-Sept. 9th is one of my boys' birthday! So I know you'll have a good day.

Re: Need Your Help!
Here is something I wrote on another post that you may use if you like. It's kind of "why I like HOD" in a nutshell!
HOD is very easy to understand. The plans are all laid out for each day, and any poetry, spelling words, or list of books needed are in the Appendix. There is great flexibility and it is easy to combine children as the guides are written for an age range instead of a particular 'grade'. There are also extension packs available starting with the Bigger...guide, so that makes it even easier to combine kiddos. There are several options on the site to choose from for what to purchase, so you can get the most economical package and utilize your library...or buy all you need and have it right on hand for your convenience. AND, these message boards are a wonderful place to glean advice from all those who use HOD as well as the author (Carrie) who is also currently using HOD with her own boys. I don't think it can get much better than that!
