I started Lily my new adoptee from China on little hands to heaven this week.
Also started her on teaching her to read with 100 ez lessons just to see how it goes.
I'm floored at how much she is picking up! she loves school she was lol so hard when we were doing the finger play .. tho how slithering on the floor like a snake is playing with my fingers... I'm not sure.. but she ran around the room running away from me... yelling word for snake in chinese and she wouldn't do it her self.. but later she was doing all the actions for her sister and saying snake in english! yippie! she also did the art with my eldest (sadly better than my eldest)... and totally loved it.
Such a change from my older one who made public school look appealing. I never knew school could be THIS MUCH FUN! I can't wait till her english is up to little hearts! Lily is really driven to learn she is still copying everything even her sisters cursive handwriting.
She can count to 100 in chinese I was thinking could I start her on singapore kindergarden A1.. She can count to 29 in english and tends to answer in Chinese but I under stand her so I hate to neglect this aspect of her education. Any thoughts? I wonder if I can get it in Chinese.. wanders off to look at singapore web site..

Re: just amazed
It's amazing how fast they learn. I remember that our dd's were speaking English just during the month that we spent in Kazakhstan. We just used one of those picture books and away they went. They are so excited to get going with everything the more they figure out this is the real deal and they are here to stay the more they want to engage themselves. Enjoy this time. I look back on it as a very precious time for us. Make sure that you take lots of pictures and make a photo album for them. I know my dd's do not remember as much as I would have liked for them to remember now that they are 10. I think the change is a lot for them and they tend to forget. And how wonderful that you have HOD to share with her. Enjoy!

It sounds like you are both having tons of fun! I'm glad she's picking up on english and enjoying learning at the same time!

Oh, Tansy your post just warms my heart!!!! how awesome for you both!!!
I have a friend who is Chinese and she said she'd teach my boys some Chinese language. Then my mom went and bought them the whole Spanish Homeschool kit and caboodle from Rosetta Stone! so much for learning Chinese...

That's incredible Tansy! What a blessing. I am a bit jealous though as my oldest is moody and not very excited about starting school up again...
Re: just amazed
Tansy,
Isn't it amazing how different kiddos can be? We have this at our house too! I'm glad though, because it allows for me to work on different areas of challenge with each child! I love seeing each child's personality shine through and seeing their God-given strengths!
Celebrating with you and your family tonight!
P.S. Netpea, hang in there with those moody kiddos. Consistency is the best answers to their ups and downs. There's less battle of the wills if they know what's coming each day!
Blessings,
Carrie

Tansy, your post really encouraged me. We are in the process of adopting from China. When I hear testimonies like yours, it helps me to keep on moving through the red tape & mounds of paperwork. Thanks for sharing your story. May God continue to bless your family!
