American poetry

Post by jer2911mom » Fri Jan 26, 2024 5:40 pm

Hi,

Is American poetry covered in the US1 guide? If not, when is it covered? Is there something I could add to the US1 guide to cover it?

Thanks,
Kathy

My son completed US History I. There was plenty of American literature in it, but I don’t remember it including any poetry. Carrie includes daily poetry in the middle and lower guides, but I can’t think of any specific poetry books in the high school guides that we’ve used.

My daughter read The New Enlarged Anthology of Robert Frost’s Poems this year with over 100 of his poems. The book includes only one American poet, but I thought it was exceptional.

Christianmom, thank you very much for your reply! Thank you for the recommendation of the Frost poetry book as well!
