DITHOR placement

Post by klynn2000 » Tue Jul 25, 2017 10:04 pm

My ten year old will be using Preparing for school for 5th grade this fall. (He's done Little Hearts, Beyond, and Bigger and then a break from HOD this past school year for financial reasons.) He is not a strong reader and is easily overwhelmed. I'm not sure he could handle reading the books in the 4/5 book pack without quite a bit of frustration. I think the level 3 book pack would fit his reading level better. Would I use the DITHOR 2/3 student book with him or the 4/5? I'm also wondering if it's best to use the level 3 book pack for him (not as difficult reading, probably more enjoyment because of this) or the 4/5 book pack, (would be more challenging to him)? Is it ok to use the level 3 with a 5th grader? Eeek, I'm always wondering when to push a little harder and when to step back!
