Hi!
I have a question about your high school levels. Can I do them out of order? I have a Sr and a Soph. this coming school year and my Sr still needs to do a year of World History. I would really like to just do the same school curriculum with both of them together. Would that be a big no no?

You would do the WH (World History) guide this year for both of them, with Extensions for your Sr., if s/he places in the Extension age range.
Next year your Soph. would be a Jr. and would move on to complete American History I, with American History II for her Sr. year, completing the last 3 HOD guides in order.
Am I understanding that right? (I'm Canadian, so may have that wrong, since we just call them Grade 9, 10, 11 and 12.

Yes you could have your senior do the World History guide. You can sub in whatever science she needs as well as go with whatever level of math she is at. Also just to clarify there aren't extensions for the high school guides.

I had a similar situation. I wanted my girls to do the same classes at the same time for high school. It simplified things for me immensely. My upcoming senior is doing World Geography. Do what works. I don't think the colleges care what order classes are completed.

Thank you, I think it will work fine, but I will have to supplement geography (our state requires it) for my upcoming 10th grader at some point during the next three years if I choose to put him in the same guide with my 12th grader. Hopefully I can do it over a summer our something?

My younger student (9th grader) sort-of did US History, but he has not completed it, nor will by the end of this school year. So I am thinking now that if I put him in the same guide (WH) as my older student (11th grader) next year, that I could just move forward with the rest of the guides with him and re-do US history instead of going back to World Geography like I was originally thinking. What had me hung up was I was thinking that my 9th grader would do the WG guide for 11th grade with my OTHER younger student (who will be repeating 8th grade again next year- hopefully placing him in RTR to review a lot of the basics) that year so I could combine the guide again with two of my students. However, after asking and researching that option, maybe it would be better not to do that. Sorry if this is really confusing! I have only started LHTH with my littlest kids so I am all new at this curriculum. I have 10 kiddos and what we had been doing before is not working well anymore and I am desperately trying to find solutions so that we can actually ENJOY learning and FIT IT into our day for everyone!

If your state requires geography, then I would either place your sophomore in World Geography and your senior in World History or place both students in World History. Their are benefits to both plans. If the students were in their own guides, there would be less book and guide sharing, and you would already own the materials for your sophomore the following year. If you placed them together in one guide, they could share materials and learning.
If you placed both in World History, then the following year (after your senior has graduated), I would have your then junior level student do World Geography (since your state requires it). The year after that your then senior level student could do either US1 or US 2.
