Exploration Education Physical Science Kit

Post by jacynamommy » Tue Jul 12, 2016 10:31 am

My two oldest are combined in Rev to Rev this fall and we ordered the Exploration Education Physical Science Kit, plus an extra logbook. I am wondering though after looking at it if I should have 2 kits...or at least the extra pieces for making the projects? Do they each need to have their own? Or is it reasonable that they can work together on the projects? Thanks!

I think it is reasonable for them to work on the projects together as long as they get along well enough to do that. I often acted as an extra pair of hands for my ds when he built the projects. On the days they do experiments with what they have made you could have them do those separately. It would be interesting to see if they get different results even though they are using the same equipment.

I am struggling a bit here myself. My co-op is using his program and my older two kids are going to take it at co-op this year. I am struggling with whether or not get them each their own stuff so that they can building them by themselves. I am still praying about it and won't make any decisions until mid August.

I think it depends on the kiddos! Some kiddos are just wired to LOVE building things such as they will be experimenting with in EE. My middle son, for example, would NOT be able to share a kit (and he's a pretty good sharer with most things... but not that). He'd been BREATHLESSLY waiting - not kidding - to do the EE kit ever since he'd seen his big brother do it years earlier, and last year when he finally got to do it, if I'd told him he'd have to take turns doing it with his little brother... there might have been some tears. On the other hand, I think my youngest would be just fine working with someone else doing it. My oldest? He'd want to do it himself just because he'd want it to be done the way he'd want it to be done. But, he would be willing to do it with someone else if we were tight on money, and he'd have done it then with zero complaint cheerfully. Personally (at their age), I would have actually liked building it with someone else. But then science isn't my thing, and I'd be thankful for the support. So, I think it depends on many things! How your kids are wired, what your budget is, how they work together, etc. If they do end up sharing, it'll be fine! They'll have better odds than the average public school classroom, where sometimes 20+ students watch the teacher perform the experiment due to a lack of science materials (my experience waaay back when I taught in public school).

I appreciate your response on this Julie! If I decide to order, how do I do that...I'm guessing directly through the company?
