I am curious now that this has been out for a "school year", what anyone here thinks of it? I am going to use it for my one daughter,(age 14) who is going into MtoM this fall. She has done another math curriculum (R&S) her entire schooling so far, but is so bored with the way R&S presents stuff, and drills heavily. She will eventually take Algebra, but is not ready. I would classify her as a former reluctant student, who is now guardedly intrigued, all because we changed to HOD. We had formerly been with a community that only allowed schooling through the 8th grade, and while R&S is no shrug of a program, in our family, we believe they just need more in today's world. We will require Algebra, Geometry and some Trig, just as a normal high school will, in order to get a diploma. Our state is really easy to deal with as far as requirements. (Indiana).
Our other daughter(age 12), who is working on CtoC and has found new interest in school, (a huge win ) , hates math. She needs something different. She is bright, but has been so turned off by traditional schooling methods that she assumes there is no way she will ever "get" math. She is more of a history gal. I am considering giving Singapore a try and am going to test her. But the old "will she have time for everything" concern comes in...She has finished R&S 4 and I am hoping she will place in the 5th level, so we can move to the Principles of Mathematics the next year. I would consider her 6th grade this fall, and she has asked to summer school so she can move ahead faster. When I go through the placement chart I think she will be ready for Rev to Rev in the fall if we cover the main things in Res to Ref. We have some of the books and she loves them. They both are good readers and do very well in DITHOR, though I am continuing them in the entire program. I had originally placed them lower and after a few weeks discovered they did not have enough challenge, so they are already up higher than they were.
I am making plans for what is next and have it pretty well figured out, except for math. I would love to hear any comments, good or bad on this newer math program. Thanks!

Re: Principles of Mathematics
Last year was the first year it was released by HOD to use. It is a very new program. All I can say is that my oldest dd finished Singapore level 5 this year and we are planning to use the first level of the new program next year. As for your youngest dd who has completed R&S math only, I don't know if I would switch yet. I probably wouldn't jump from one program to another. I would probably try and finish at least R&S 5 before making the transition to a new program. I do love Singapore and think it is a great program but I also think that it is important to not jump around in math. I would tough it out for one more year if you can. I would also check the placement chart for the new program for your oldest to see if she should take the first level or the second level of the new math program.
