Carrie/Julie,
Is the plan to use Foerster's Algebra 2/Trig program with Math Without Borders again in the new American History program? If so, is this done over 2 years, or one? Does it go on the transcript as Algebra 2 one year and Trig the next? Or Algebra 2/Trig in one year??
I need to decide whether to do this at home again or sign him up for a class. I'm not "mathy."
Thanks!

Hi Mamochka5,
Sorry ,I don't have any advice for you, but I do have a question.
I am not "mathy" either. I am wondering if you used Forester's Algebra I successfully with your student?

Hi Lynn,
Yes. My son enjoyed using Foerster's and the Math Without Borders videos. The book is written and organized in a straightforward manner, which I like. All that said, my son did most of it independently because he (unlike me) is a mathy kid. I did find that some assignments took him a really long time to complete because even though he had "10 problems" to complete, each had 5 or 6 sub-questions. I may have made a mistake with the way I assigned it (?) I'm not sure. To me, I like the way it's taught much better than Saxon, for example.
Hope that helps!

Re: *Algebra 2 in HS American History
Hi Liz! Carrie will be posting more details in an upcoming sneak peek about this, but the short answer is 'yes,' Foerster's Algebra 2 will be one of the the choices for Algebra 2 in the upcoming AH1 guide. The trig part will not be part of that year, to my understanding, but rather an option for part of/all the next year, depending on a student's future plans post-high school. We enjoyed Foerster's Algebra 1 very much with our oldest ds. I liked the textbook approach because with the detailed step-by-step answer key, I could pop in and help more easily. I also loved Carrie's suggestions in the WG Introduction for pacing, # of problems to do, teaching, etc. We followed it exactly and had a great year. We plan to use Foerster's Algebra 2 next year. HTH!
