We started!!!

Post by holyhart » Tue Jun 24, 2008 11:45 am

We did our first day of LHFHG this morning. :D :D

It went really well andEvelyn LOVED it! :D :D :D :D She especially loved going into her dark bedroom and having me say "and let there be light" and turning on a flash light (not that it was really dark in there....even with all the shades closed....but she liked the theatrics of it, and naming stuff she saw and discribing it.)

The memory verse went really well too as she already knew the song (have I mentioned that we have the Steve Green CD's and they have listened to one of them almost every night for the past year???), so the verse came right to her.

Joshua had fun joining in on the rhymes in motion! They both thought that was fun! And she let him glue on oe macaroni noodle onto each of her math sheets that we did today.

Overall, considering the bad start we had to the day, I am ESTATIC that the day went so well. Last night our dog got sprayed by a skunk.Image. So my hubs and I were up past midnight trying to de-skunkify her (which didn't work btw) and up by 5am. We left her tied up in her outdoor pen. She chewed through the cord she was tied to and dug her way out of the pen.

So when I finally got her back home, she had also gotten into the swamp near our house. I now have a very lovely, swampy-skunky golden retriever. Started the day off on a lovely note.

But at least the schooling was fun! :D

I am so glad that your first day went so well. I remember doing that activity too, my boys had so much fun with it.

I hope your dog smells better soon that does not sound fun.

Kelly,

I'm so glad that you had a great first day with LHFHG! :D It sounds like you needed it, with all of your other doggy issues going on! The skunk smell just slowly wears off over time. Otherwise you can always try the more expensive dousing with tomato juice method. :D

We'll pray your little sweeties will enjoy their year with HOD! I remember doing the "Let there be light" one too! My boys had a ball.

Blessings,
Carrie

Well we started last week, but we are taking it slowly so we only did three days. Today we did day 4 of unit 1.

Actually today was a bit rough. :( My son was very disruptive as today they are both a bit cranky....long weekend (which means schedules and sleep/eating times all over the place! ). I guess we will all get days like this from time to time though huh?

Praying tomorrow will be a bit smoother.

How did your first day go??? :D I don't think it will make a bit of difference that you did the science box from the wrong day (read that on the other thread). Either way he is still learning!

we had a great day. For a little guy who couldnt cope with school I was expecting a fair bit of resistance to any kind of structured academic study but he LOVED it.Initially he resisted say the rhyme but I just started with his little brother and he jumped on in to join us.Im just waiting for it to get dark enough to do the flashlight today.Hope today runs smoother for you all
