beefing up Rev to Rev..any new thoughts?

Post by fullhands_fullheart » Mon May 11, 2015 8:35 am

Hi!
I found an older thread from 2007 regarding beefing up Rev to Rev. We will be using the extensions to get a full history credit (is any work recommended with them or just the readings?) and the Advanced science to get a science credit. We may or may not beef up the fine arts and bible. This is for an 8th grader so we don't necessarily need to do it all. Since those recommendations were from back in 2007, I just wanted to ask if there was anything new recommended?
Thanks
Kindra

We did Rev to Rev as written for 8th grade. I think the beefing up threads are usually indicated for high school.

Yes, I have just heard that 8th graders can get high school credits if the course work is applicable. :-)

I would look into what is allowed in your area. Normally there are limits on what counts for high school in 8th grade. Some areas limit the number of credits. Some areas limit the classes. And some areas don't allow it at all.
Can I ask why you are wanting to get credits in 8th grade? What is your motivation? Do you want your child to be done early? Do you want your child to have more freedom later for internships or missions work? THat might help us give you some recommendations.

I know in our state the credits they will consider for high school credit that a student takes in 8th grade are really only math-if they take Algebra and up or some sciences. The courses has to be specifically designed for high school credit which is why the Exploration Education would count because it states it counts for high school credit. The only way you could make the history etc count would be if you included something like a text book that is normally for high school and even then I haven't heard of any college accepting history done earlier than 9th grade as high school credit.

The extensions are to make it more challenging for someone older than the suggested ages of the guide and there are assignments in the appendix that are basically written narrations, oral narrations and a few others that I can't remember right now.
