4 years ago today HOD came through for us

Post by mrsrandolph » Mon Apr 13, 2015 2:24 pm

4 years ago today my husband lost his teaching job due to a "reduction in workforce". We didn't see how we were going to buy food much less curriculum. I emailed Mike and Carrie. They prayed for us and saw that we were not without curriculum for the upcoming year for our children. I will NEVER forget their generosity.

That is why I plead with HOD users to buy from HOD the materials they need. If you pay a few pennies more, just remember you are supporting a MINISTRY and a family business that truly loves it's own.

BTW, my husband did get back to the classroom after a lean time, and we've continued to enjoy our journey and RELATIONSHIP with HOD.

May God Richly Bless the Austin Family!

I couldn't agree more!!!

When we did LHFHG and Beyond, we bought our books from Rainbow Resource and I didn't think twice about it. I wanted the best price available. We've been using HOD ever since, and the blessings we've received over the years have been extraordinary. I wouldn't survive homeschooling without the open and go flow of the manuals, of which I'm successfully using 4 this year. I am in full agreement with you, Mrs. Randolph! This is a ministry and business I am willing to support. All of my children have received an HOD education since LHFHG and now my oldest will soon be in 8th grade. I am so excited to be ordering Missions to Modern Marvels soon. Once I asked my dd if she wanted me to explore other curriculums, and screamed, "NO!".

I love homeschooling with HOD.

For sure! Many people love their currciulum. But I've never seen anyone love their currciulum providers like we do! HOD rocks! I can't imagine using anything else. I'm so thankful for all the help they've given me with choosing and using their currciulum.

I am also a mama pro in favor of only buying directly from HOD. I do it because we all spend money and support the things we love. I love HOD and I want to support them directly. As for selling my stuff used....I just don't think I can part with it! Plus, by the time my kids get done with it, I don't really think anyone would want to buy it LOL. In all seriousness, HOD puts way too much blood, sweat and tears into this work for me to even consider buying it elsewhere. I will only buy it directly from them.

I too am very grateful for HOD and the beautiful resources they have introduced me to. It is a joy to read the selection of living books and we are finishing up our third year with HOD. I love the idea of supporting HOD by buying all your books through them...... And I do find their prices to be very competitive. The only reason I don't buy all my books from HOD is that I prefer to buy hardcover books if I can - they are so much more durable! If I can find a used hardcover copy of a book that HOD sells, that is cheaper than the paperback version they offer, I go for the hardcover book. But if I can't find a cheaper hardcover, I definitely order from HOD. I just finished ordering all my resources for Bigger, and am looking forward to another great year! It is so nice to order things from "people", rather than huge corporations, isn't it. Like in the summer when I can order a farm share delivered each week from our local market garden, rather than buying from the big grocery store. Several years ago I placed an order with a company that sold Rod and Staff Curriculum...... And was surprised when we got our order to read the personal note that the sender had included...... it turned out that the owners of that store were something like second cousins to my husband and they recognized his name!! I am rambling here but happy for all the good stories of Carrie and Mike's personable customer service.
