My DS is exactly 2 1/2 years old in April. He can sing his alphabet, count to ten, and recognizes basic shapes, and some colors. His attention span is a few minutes long Should I think of trying LHTh starting in May? I will just do it three days a week as I'm going to go back to work two days this year. He loves to move and sing also..
Be honest with me! Should I wait or give it a shot and see if he can handle it Just don't want to,push him . But he seems ready....
Thanks!
Too young to start LHTH??
Re: Too young to start LHTH??
I just want to say that I think there is some freedom here but I also don't want you to have any regret. I know some people have mentioned that they have gone through LHTH to heaven more than 1 time with their kids because their child wasn't old enough for LHFHG. If you started it now and then when through it, you would probably finish around the time that your child is 4. Then could go through it a second time and your child would probably pick up even more that time around.
One thing I would recommend though is not going through any of the other guides until your child is in their age range. Last year was my first year with HOD and when I started, I put my oldest (who was in Preparing. That went great. Then I placed my younger two (5 and 7) in Beyond. My youngest was not in the age range. While she did have an excellent year and she could do everything her big brother did, I knew this year that she could not move onto Bigger. Bigger has a lot more writing in it and she just would be tuckered out if I had pushed her there. So this year I bumped her down to Little Hearts for the most part but let her do grammar and cursive with her brother. I also had her work on re-copying the poetry from Beyond and copying Bible verses this year to help strengthen her hand muscles. I can't lie, I am really looking forward to next year because I will then not need to modify the guide for my youngest. The guide with HOD is like a treasure. Everything is perfectly balanced and they make it so easy get your day done. And while I really don't struggle with completing my day at all, I do look forward to when I don't need to add anything - like getting out the Beyond guide so that my youngest can copy from it.
