I couldn't wait any longer!

Post by psreit » Thu Nov 20, 2014 8:48 am

By the end of this week, we are officially HODers again! 8) Bigger is the way! I said I was going to start after the holidays, meaning after New Years Day. But, this is one time that I don't need to be patient. I think we will be starting BEFORE Thanksgiving! :D We can get a couple of weeks in before Christmas. I don't see any reason that we need to wait. It is not going to interfere with what we are doing now. It will actually enhance it. :)

I had mentioned in another post that I was being treated for Lyme. The Lord has been good. We found a Christian naturopath who is affordable and, although the Lyme treatment will take 6 months to a year, I am being treated with a homeopathic remedy that has relieved some symptoms that were causing some distress muscularly and to my central nervous system. I am feeling so much better. My head feels clearer and, overall, I feel relief. :D Thanks to those who prayed for me. My doctor relies heavily on prayer, so this has also helped to strengthen my prayer life.

In all the decisions I have made for Angie over the past two years, I think I can honestly say with confidence, we are now on the right path. It has really been an encouragement to hear how some of you on this board, who have children with similar struggles as my daughter, are seeing them move forward in HOD. I know I heard that a long time ago, but I thought I just needed a specialized program to help my daughter. There is a place for those, and we did find some help in those temporarily, but it didn't have to be at the expense of HOD. But, all things work together for good..... I realized the reason I kept backing away was because I was focusing on content and not skill level. God used a thread on this board to get me to see clearly that, to be able to use HOD, all we needed to do was step back, even if it meant repeating some things we had done in the past. Believe it or not, only doing a part of two guides these past two years was unfulfilling. I always felt like we had missed out. Going back and completing Bigger and moving forward from there will fulfill those desires that I believe were God-given when he led me to HOD in February of 2010 when we began with Little Hearts. So, we're back to Bigger and excited to see how the Lord will use HOD in our lives once again. :D :D

that is absolutely wonderful!

A friend of mine actually contacted me about my thoughts on HOD (obviously good stuff to share here) and she also is going to starting in December now.

I love that with HOD you can start anytime :-) And the kids learn SO much and everything is so hands on. It is a such a great program. May god bless your upcoming year!!!!

Congratulations psreit! :D I hope you both have a wonderful time with Bigger! I have some extra little items I needed coming soon and like you, I think we'll get a head start before the holidays.

Thank you again for your encouragement earlier this week. It was a true blessing. :D

I keep thinking that SURELY they must be something to order. :) I'm excited about the next guides even though I'm enjoying the ones we are doing now. I have everything for the next guides already except getting the student pages for RtR. I LOVE the student notebook pages. I'm so glad she made those.

You buy far in advance LOL. I am hoping to buy the stuff for R2R in January or February as well. It is really nice getting everything in advance so that I can look through it and have half a year to peruse it at my leisure. Then, by next school year I feel very comfortable handing it off to my dd and starting the year.

I had my daughter, who is now 20, go through them a few years ago. :)

I felt that way when we began using HOD in 2010. Then, between my daughter's struggles and, as I am realizing now, how the Lyme was affecting me, I didn't think I would ever feel that way again. But, I can tell that feeling is starting to come back. Really, I am beginning to feel like my old self again. :D But, now I am ready to just sit back and enjoy each guide, without becoming impatient. If my daughter needs to go through the guide a little slower, that's okay. I want her to enjoy it as well. :)

Wish HOD would have been around when I homeschooled my older girls. :(
