WG science
It's my understanding that the science curriculum used in WG is not by a Christian company. Does the TM add a Christian dimension to it?

Re: WG science
I don't know about the company, but the author of the science curriculum is John Hudson Tiner who is a Christian and comes at science from a Christian perspective. We have used many of his books through our years with HOD. I have read through 6 out of 12 of the work texts and they are very similar in style and perspective as the other books we have used.

Re: WG science
I didn't read through every booklet, but I found nothing objectionable in it. THe previous poster is correct about the author, though. Do a quick google, and see if that helps ease your mind a bit.

Re: WG science
I guess my thing is not that it's anti Christian, but, it's not Christian. It's not pointing to God as the creator. I feel like science really important to teach from a Christian angle.

Re: WG science
I think it does point to the God as the Creator. It isn't biology so you don't have the evolution vs creation issue. Since it is physics and chemistry you don't have as much as you would in biology. Not even Apologia has as much in their chemistry book as they do in their biology book. In the IPC much of the focus is on those who discovered the different laws of motion, elements etc and he points out those that were strong Christians and how that influenced their experiments. I went looking for an example of this and quickly found this in the Chapter 2 text talking about Isaac Newton "He was a very religious person who had strong Christian beliefs. He wrote two books about the Bible. Much of Newton's research about stars began from Bible passages found in the books of Genesis and Job." One of the life principle quotes is also a quote from Newton that says "This most beautiful (solar) system could only proceed from the dominion of an intelligent and powerful Being". I know as I read I found other things talking about God.

Re: WG science
Thanks Lynn. That's what I was hoping for:) I'd just read that the PACs were secular, so I was a little concerned.

Re: WG science
Mumkins,
Lynn did a great job of sharing examples with you from the text. Even though the company itself isn't promoted as a Christian company, I find that their materials regularly mention faith, religious perspectives on things in history, quotes from Scripture, and features on Christian scientists. In their World History materials, they also include Old Testament figures, history of the Jewish people (as God's chosen people), Christian theologians, Christian philosophers, and modern day evangelists and missionaries. Their materials are refreshingly balanced in weaving secular and Biblical/church history into one narrative. They treat Biblical/church history as a necessary, integral part of history. It is a joy to read their Integrated Physics and Chemistry materials and their World History materials. I pray you will be as blessed as we have been using these materials with your kiddos.
I think once you get them in your hands, you will be very pleased.
Blessings,
Carrie
