Is there a "preparing for World Geography" type post?

Post by StillJulie » Tue Jul 29, 2014 12:19 pm

I need to start getting my ducks in a row since we start in less than three weeks, and I think I'll be using five complete guides and a few things out of a sixth.

I'm not looking forward to the copying for the composer study... I remember not being able to get my printer to print on both sides of the paper properly.

I think I'm going to opt not to print the teacher's maps for any of the Map Trek work and let the children view them on the computer instead (we'll have a desktop and three laptops, so I don't think that should be a problem).

Anyone, my quick search didn't yield a setting up type post for World Geography, but I thought someone had made one... or if you know of a blog that shows someone setting up this guide... I'd sure appreciate it.

I've been getting ready for the WG guide this week too, and Lynn ' s post has been very helpful! I've referred to it multiple times already! :)

Thanks, Lynn! ;)

Your welcome. Since that post I have printed off the rest of the weeks for the Mapping the World with Art activities. It is fairly time consuming so I do recommend doing it before school starts. I didn't photocopy any of it I just printed it off the CD that comes with the program.

One little tip that I thought might be helpful to share. . . . .when printing out the timeline figures for the Book of Centuries, I printed them onto some sticky-back, sticker-type computer paper. Actually I got some full page shipping labels that worked great for this. Now instead of having to glue each one into his book, he can just peel the back off and stick them in the book. That way the pages don't get stuck together from excess glue. (We tend to use a bit more here than we need at times! ;) LOL! :D)

Those currently using WG or who have used WG, do you have any other suggestions for prepping for the guide? I am spending the next week getting things printed and I'm hoping for a little more guidance with the Mapping through Art printings. For example, are all of the activities scheduled? I'm one who always tries to print maps out or anything else in advance.

Thanks!

I had been worried about prepping the Mapping the World through Art, but I never got any of it done. It has NOT been a big deal AT ALL for my freshman daughter to just copy things as she needs them. It has worked out just wonderfully for us without prepping a thing for that subject.

I think about the only thing I did was print off the timeline figures in advance, and that was quite simple.

This is simply brilliant.

And I am totally doing this next time around. :)
