Transcripting english and lit credits

How do we transcript English and literature credits? I know we can just write English 1, 2, 3, and 4, but don't we need to note that the student did British Lit or American Lit? I'm thinking ahead for my sophomore. He'll be doing the WH guide coming out (we ordered today!!!) and will be doing HOD all the way through.

*3yo - playschool

For my dd the colleges didn't care what Lit she did as part of her English. I just called them English 9, English 10, English 11, and English 12. Her colleges did not ask for course descriptions, but that is where you have what type of lit they did, not on the transcript.

I think it does vary by state and college. Many are getting more general with their requirements, but some still want specifics. So, just look at what your state requires as well as the colleges you are interested in.
