Does anyone use HOD in a co-op?

Post by blessedwith2 » Mon Jun 09, 2008 1:20 pm

We're in the process of creating a co-op in the area. I already started using LHFHG with my dd this week (and we LOVE it). She said to me today, "This was a fun morning," after we finished our LHFHG activities for the day.

Anyway, I came across a coop online, located in Panama City, that uses HOD for 3-6 years olds (two different classes, so I imagine LHTH and LHFHG). Does anyone else do this? I would love to do this in our co-op and am interested in hearing stories from others that already use any HOD program in this way!

Thanks in advance and God bless!

Hi Blessedwith2,

I am going to be teaching Beyond in a co-op in the fall. I am going away next weekend to do my annual lesson planning and goal setting and will have a better timeline in place when I get home.

I would be glad to share info with you. What I do know right now is that I will only allow 15 students in the class. I will charge $25 per child for 11 weeks. I will place a bulk order for Stories Of The Pilgrims and have parents reading from the schedule during the week. We will do discussion and activities during class.

blessedwith2,

I know we have quite a few moms who do this, although I don't think they all do it in the same way.

We often have moms at convention in little groups brainstorming about how they could make it work for their particular co-op situation! :D

I never get all the details though, because we're usually pretty busy at convention just answering questions! Sorry I can't be of more help.

Blessings,
Carrie

Mary you are the QUEEN of all women! WOW! Fifteen makes me feel like a shrinking violet. That is awesome! Please when you get into it remember to share all your tips. I will just cut every thing in about a third and apply it to my home. Seriously share your tips! I think it will be wonderful information for all of us!

I am considering doing a semester class based on LHFHG's history components, using the History for Little Pilgrims book.

I would get the coloring books for the kids and do some of the activities from the LHFHG guide, but I probably wouldn't get the books for everyone. I would probably read to them from mine. Maybe I could do Creation to the silent period (Old testament) in the fall semester, and Jesus's birth to now in the spring semester.
