LHFHG for 2nd grade?

Post by 3babiesmommy » Sat Jun 07, 2008 3:33 pm

Hello!

This is my first time posting here. My name is Coleen and I am going to be homeschooling 2 daughters next year, one in Kindergarten and one in Second. I had originally planned to use LHFHG with my K'er and another program with my 2nd grader. Now I am considering combining them and doing LHFHG with both to make things easier. Has anyone done this program with one this age? I had one idea to beef up the history by requiring her to notebook the history selections. Any other ideas? Do you think this can work?

Thanks!

Coleen

Hi Coleen!! Welcome to the HOD boards!!
I'm using Little Hearts with my 4.5 yr old, and I would say a couple things: one, you certainly can combine them! And it's very easy to do!! I'm using Bigger with three of my older boys, and they are 12, 9, and 8, and the whole curriculum is very easy to combine. So I can say confidently that combining is very easy!
Second, I would get some of the extension books for the older child. In my opinion, the history won't need beefing up, as far as content, but the science and the math have options. I would use a higher level language arts, too, (I personally use the queen books and some random things that I've made) and maybe try either the emerging readers or Drawn into the heart of reading for her independent reading.
And in my opinion, notebooking is always a good thing. but I'm a scrapbooker at heart. :-)
