Can MtMM be made high school worthy?

Post by Starla » Mon Nov 11, 2013 1:12 pm

I'm sure this is addressed in here somewhere, but couldn't seem to find the links to help. My oldest son will not be ready for the World Geography guide for his freshman year. Rather he will only be ready for MtMM. Is there someplace that explains how I can make that guide "high school" worthy? (He's still 2 and 1/2 years away...but I am always looking ahead.) The other option would be to push him extra hard and go through 3 guides in two years so that he will be ready for the World Geography guide by 9th grade. (am worried that pushing him may take the love of learning out of him....just don't know)
Any ideas?
Thanks!

I'm using MTMM for 9th grade right now, for exactly the same reason. My son just wasn't ready skill-wise for the Geo guide. We are finding MTMM to be a very full year, and very rich. He is learning so much, and even though his day is more full than it used to be, he is really enjoying school. I was a little unsure at first about using MTMM for high school, but with the extensions it is very well suited to a freshman year, and I have no problem recommending it.

ETA that I can't imagine trying to stuff 3 guides into 2 years... I tend to agree with you, I think that would probably burn both you and your son out.

The short answer is YES! :D MTMM can definitely be made high school credit worthy, and quite easily too! :D

A tentative plan, only you'd bump everything up a year and do American History for 12th grade...
