Would you help me with placement?

I wrote in a few days ago, but I think I wasn't clear, so here goes again:
I could really use some advice...

I have a almost 5yo ds and a 6 yo dd. We started HS late in February, (pulled my daughter out of public school kindergarten) with LHFHG. We only managed to get through about 6 units as I was taking it slow. My dd finished the EarlyBIrd Singapore Math so I was ahead in Math. She is a very good reader, so I had her reading books and doing Blumfield's phonics. My son is just beginning phonics, though he is very eager. He will be in K this year. My question...
My daughter is really ready for Beyond Little Hearts, but I was hoping to keep my dc together. Should I try to beef up LHFHG since we didn't get very far? My dd also writes well. Can copy sentences, etc. I know she is ready to begin spelling and I would like her reading easy books on her own. We also wanted to do more science. How would you do this? Should try to do both programs? Should I have my ds do Beyond with my dd? Your help would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like ideally you would do both programs which is very doable. Or you could combine for LHFHG using the 1st options for the older child and you could do your own simple spelling words. The Reason for Handwriting A book does copywork from scripture each week. Your younger could do the K options.

Hi! Since you want to keep your dc together, I would use LHFHG with both of them. It will be easier in the long run to keep them together if you start with the younger of the 2 programs. Just start with both dc wherever you are in LHFHG - I wouldn't backtrack for ds to have the beginning of it. You can do LHFHG as is for your ds. For your dd, I would buy the Beyond Little Hearts for His Glory teacher's guide (you'll use it next year anyway.) Do Spelling List 1 with her, and the Emerging Reader's Set and discussion questions (both of these are in Beyond's Appendix), and do Singapore 1A/1B with her (planned out in Beyond's Math box of plans with hands-on activities.) For her writing, you could either do A Reason For Handwriting Level A planned out in LHFHG guide, OR you could have her write her LHFHG Bible verse each week, in preparation for writing it in Beyond... and for doing Copywork in Beyond...

As far as the science, I think it's enough in LHFHG already for that age. But, if you want to do more of it, I think you could just add in some books on the topics. Or, we enjoy keeping a Nature Journal and have used a small sketchbook to sketch and write in after we've either looked at something in nature outside, or read something from our Nature Books I bought. This is easy and fun to do!

Then, whenever you finish LHFHG with the 2 of them, you'd go into Beyond... Your dd would do Spelling Level 2, Drawn into the Heart of Reading Level 2/3 for reading, and Singapore Math 2A/2B. For the 2A/2B, math, it's planned out in the Appendix, but to get the HOD hands-on math activities to match it, you'd need to buy the Bigger Hearts... HOD guide (well worth it, in my opinion.)

So, now what are you thinking? Love to hear what you say about this - keep asking questions til you're set to go - whatever you decide to do, you'll love HOD!

If you're desiring to keep your kiddos together, then it would be best to keep them both in LHFHG and to add in the language arts and math from"Beyond..." for your daughter as the ladies suggested.

When you pulled your daughter out, you probably needed time for her to decompress a little and to just get used to schooling at home, so it was fine to only get through the beginning part of LHFHG.

However, this year, you can move forward trying both of them together in the history, science, Bible, etc. and see how it goes. If LHFHG is feeling too light for your daughter overall, you could always bump your daughter up to doing all of Beyond... (and just continue on with your son in LHFHG). Since, they're so close in age though, I'd give combining a chance.
