Please compare to Living Books Curriculum

Post by Blessed with seven » Fri Jan 18, 2008 11:54 am

I am not meaning to be difficult or try to create a problem if you do not want other curriculums discussed...I understand.

I am still struggling w/ what to use and greatly desire to learn more about Charlotte Mason and her philosophy. I am still trying to read some books about her but notice LBC wll be going up to 8th grade fairly soon.

I just am curious what the differences are between HOD and LBC.

Thanks!

Kim

There was a recent thread on the HSR site about this curriculum, and the poster did not get a lot of response. It seems that many people have LOOKED at LBC, but no one has actually USED it.

I've looked at it, but was a little unsure of the guide that came with it. It looked very vague (I know that can't be spelled right, not looking it up though  ). It would say something along the lines of "sometime this week, read this or do this...". I need specifics. The books looked great and the concept, just not very organized.

We use lots of read-alouds in our house, and I do pull from other book lists when looking for a book about a certain topic or time period. It looks like you could use the LBC books as read-alouds with any curriculum.

I know this is not exactly what you're asking, but I really don't know anyone who has used LBC.

HOD will be going up to grade 8 in the coming years, it that helps you with your choice.
