Julianna finished LHFHG yesterday. It's a bit bittersweet! We did LHFHG for almost two years (breaks here and there, not schooling every day at first, half speed, etc) with her. She is so excited to begin Beyond next week! We will be doing half speed for a bit to get her used to it, and to keep the amount of time down at first.
I'm so exited though for my little 1st grader

WTG Julianna and Mom! We are on your heels, my K girl will be finishing LHFHG by the end of August (we are on break right now). Enjoy Beyond with her and again, great job to both of you! Do you celebrate finishing the guide, since you school year round, as we do? I usually try to think of something celebratory we can do. Go out for ice cream, or something.

We don't celebrate..... I don't really know how to do it really because there's no telling when they'll finish. It could take 8 months or 18 months. And the older guides move faster than the younger ones because we school everyone on the same days. So the 4 day guides finish up faster than the 5 day guides.
The only thing is that they look forward to doing the next guide so very much, so it's a big deal when its either box day for Jayden or pulling the guides out for the younger ones and switching books.

Mine look forward to moving up, at least they have. It is definitely fun to have new books and new supplies and get all prepared for a new guide! I think my oldest, like yours, will soon realize that moving up in a guide also means more work to do. But she has a good attitude about school most of the time.

Congratulations! When we were schooling year-round our celebration at the end of a guide was just to take a week off school. It is always fun to bump up to the new guide, and that seems to give renewed energy, but they liked that reward, and it was special for whoever finished, because usually the other kids were still working on their guides (they all started new ones at different points in the year.) I think one time we celebrated with a trip to Chuck E Cheese, but, honestly, just the week off school work while the others were working was probably more exciting to them

Way to go, Julianna, and mom too!!

Upward and onward - right?!? My kiddos get excited to start a new guide too, and I do as well. There is a feeling of finishing something loved and familiar, and starting something new and exciting. I bet you'll both have a great time in Beyond together! I will be starting half-speed Beyond with Emmett too. Can't wait!
