HS Evaluator LOVED HOD!

Post by Gigi » Fri Jul 26, 2013 9:10 pm

Hello there!

I have to say I have LOVED using HOD this year! I wrote no too long ago saying we are behind in Beyond but will stick to it, finish it and move to Bigger. I thank you all for your feedback, ideas and encouragement...Carrie, Julie, and other moms!

Now 2 days ago my dd was evaluated, in FL all I have to show is proof that she is progressing, so we do a portfolio review. Our evaluator has been around the HS world since it started (she has grown, adult kids), she is very popular and busy in our area (just a little background on her). It was our first time meeting her, so she was getting to know us and what we use for school...she had never heard of HOD. So I made it a point to introduce her to HOD by showing her the guide, pulled out all our books, the catalog and she LOVED it all. Loved the book choices, the activities in the all the boxes, critical thinking integrated, the way we do spelling. She looked through it all and took notes!! :D

I had posted here before about having a hard time with my daughter in the area of math and memorizing math facts, and also taking a long time doing her copywork. Well, our evaluator determined my dd has a visual memory deficit. But she was encouraging in telling me the Lord has led me to the right resources to teach my daughter (even when I didn't know what was happening with her!) See, He is in control at ALL times! She encouraged me to stay with Singapore math and continue to patiently drill math facts (they will eventually stick), and continue the way we do spelling and copywork, it is the best way for her to learn with her visual memory deficit.

I know this is long, but I wanted to pass this along...to encourage you like I was encouraged!

Thanks to all at HOD for making this great curriculum available to us!!! :D :D

That is wonderful! She sounds like a great woman, too. It must have been lovely to talk HS with her.

The new catalog is soooo impressive, especially with the extra notebooking pages. I am glad you took the time to show her and bring your books too!

Glad to hear you are encouraged with your daughter!!

What great news! :D I am celebrating with you and your family today! :D HOD has been - and continues to be - a total blessing in our home as well. It is the reason I can do all I can do in my life. I see so many lovely homeschooling ladies who are not using HOD completely stressed and having no time for their own walk with the Lord, for being help meets to their husbands, or for just laughing a little and smelling the roses along life's way. My life is not perfect, but it is more in balance, thanks to HOD. I am so glad you received some deserved recognition as the loving, dedicated homeschool mom of your dd, Gigi! These moments are few and far between for us behind the scenes mamas. Way to go, and may you be blessed with another great year with HOD to come! :D

I just wanted to echo a similar experience to Gigi's. Our supervising teacher homeschooled her children. She said she wishes they had Heart of Dakota back then or that she could go back and redo with it. She loves it and recommends it to families in our district all the time. She visits 4 times a year and every time she praises the curriculum.

Thanks, Carrie!!!
