Common Place Book?
Common Place Book?
We are finishing PHFHG and getting ready to begin CTC. For those of you who have done this, do you begin a new Common Place Book or continue with the old one? We used a pretty composition book that my dd picked out, and we are nowhere near filling it up. I thought it would be neat to have the verses and thoughts continue through the next guide too. Is there any reason not to do that? I haven't ordered the new guide yet, so I haven't been able to look through the year yet.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Blessings,
Cindi

Re: Common Place Book?
We are going to continue with the one from Rev to Rev for MTMM. I haven't done that before, but we have so much room left that it just makes sense to continue it. I don't see any issue with it.

Re: Common Place Book?
You should keep using the same one until he fills it up.
Here's a definition:
Since the Renaissance, devoted readers have been copying their favorite poems and quotations into notebooks to form their own personal anthologies called "commonplace books." These collections can be a source of enjoyment and solace, reminding the keeper of favorite books and poems, and can even become family heirlooms.

I have even begun keeping one myself! It is really fun to look back at the quotes I have gathered over the last year!

Re: Common Place Book?
What a fantastic idea! I have jotted notes and quotes in my Bible and my devotionals I've used as I have read through them, and as I keep reading through them, it has been neat to read what I wrote previously. I also kept a journal one year as I read through my Bible by copying my favorite Bible verses. I LOVE to pull that out! I think having a Common Place Book myself would be a similar experience! I need a pretty pink book for this, I think. I have much blue in my house. Thanks for sharing this idea, countrylivin'!countrylivin wrote:I have even begun keeping one myself! Re: Common Place Book?
Wyatt used 2 Common Place Books through the years (he has done all the guides up through MTMM). He just wrote in the first until it was full and then we got a new one. When he was offered the choice to write in either cursive or print for the older HOD guides, he told me he'd probably print everything except for his Common Place Book entries. He said it was too special for printing. We have loved this through the years - thanks for the keepsake, HOD!

Re: Common Place Book?
Thanks for the input ladies! We will keep going until we finish. I hate to waste paper.
I LOVE the idea of having my own common place book! I just went and found me a pretty purple journal and will begin recording my favorite quotes and ideas. I am even thinking about putting in a section specifically related to the whys and how's of homeschooling!
