Res to Ref Language Arts Help

Hi, I'm very new here and am in the process of ordering my daughters' curriculum. I was confused about the Language Arts section, whether we choose between Medieval History-Based Writing, Drawn into the Heart of Reading, and Rod and Staff, or if we need all three. I don't want to be too redundant with writing and burn my girls out. Thanks in advance!

You need all 3. Carrie makes sure that there is a balanced approach to language arts that encompasses literature, writing and grammar. They are not all scheduled every day. I know DITHOR is only 3 days a week and I forget how often grammar and writing are scheduled in that guide. Another way she avoids writing burn out is that she recommends that you do 2/3rds of Rod and Staff orally or on the white board. I don't know how old your dc are but if they fit into RTR according to the placement chart then they should be fine with what is required as far as writing each day.
