Is it OK to play the music CD all at once?

Post by mamaduke » Thu May 29, 2008 7:37 am

I'm gearing up for LHTH and am wondering if it's OK to play the music CD all at once or at other times of the day as long as I play the proper selection with the unit. I don't want to spoil the next units though by already hearing the songs. Maybe only play the ones we've already heard and save the new ones for their study day?

wondering,

We just returned from a long trip, and one of things we really enjoyed was listening to our "Hide 'em in Your Heart" CD in the car. I guess you could say that most of our scripture lessons are already learned by now. I think that's a good thing though!

I look at it this way---my little guy will really know those Scriptures by the time we get to the lesson they go with!
Moving along at our own pace, and very happy with it!

We listen to cds 1 and 2 all the time. (I have to say #1 is the best of those, and we haven't gotten to 3 and 4 yet. But we listen to them often!!

Great! So are you saying you played the songs ahead of schedule?

I haven't done this program, but we really enjoy these CDs. We've had them since my oldest (now 10) was about 2. My 3 oldest know almost all of the songs!

I just have to say that I feel right at home at HOD, even though I haven't started using it! It seems that almost all of Carrie's choices are things that I have chosen to use for my children on my own and now she has helped with the planning. It makes me MORE AND MORE excited for our transition.

Anyway, back to the OP, I may be missing some of the CM-ness of the programs, but I can't imagine that it's bad to reinforce learning God's Word and then focus each week (or day or whatever the lessons call for) on the appropriate song. However, you will probably want to wait for answers from experienced HODies. :)

I am enjoying learning on this board!

We listen to the whole thing. Then the specific one for the lesson. It has really made the scripture memory easier. A lot of times my ds already knows the verse because of the songs.

We always replayed ones we've already heard but saved the ones that go with the lesson until the lesson so it's something new and fresh. Otherwise my DD would always say, "I know, I know, I've already heard that before." Which kind of killed the good mood of school.

Oh Ladies,

Thats wonderful that you want to play the CD outside of school time. We've fallen into the camp of playing only the songs we've already covered for fun, but you could really go either way with that. It depends on how important it is to you to keep it "special". :D

Happy listening!

Blessings,
Carrie

Julie,

You're asking about the Singing Bible CD with LHTH, right? We've listened to the right song with the lesson...and then any we already had previously.

The Hide 'Em In Your Heart CD's we've had since my oldest was 1 or 2...way before we found HOD! So, we already know those well and they'll be review for my dd when we get to LHFHG and BLHFHG.

I really think you could do it either way and be just fine.

We only listen to the song for the week, and also to any past songs we've already had. Then, at the end of the year, we give the CD to that child to listen to in his own room whenever he wants. I like "building" their own music collection this way! But, whether you wait to listen to them or listen to them all right away, you can't go wrong. God is in every song, so that's a good thing no matter how you listen to them!

In Christ,
Julie
