I have another update ladies. And, while today has been much more difficult than we expected, we are still trusting the Lord one step at a time.
The surgeon was just getting going with the surgery, when he found a suspicious nodule on the omentum (the fatty layer that hangs like a curtain over your organs). So, he took it out and tested it, and it was cancerous. This shows that the tumor in Mike's colon has grown through the intestinal wall and stuck onto the omentum. So, he stopped the surgery right away as Mike needs a different procedure knowing that. We are praising the Lord (through our tears) here, as we are so thankful that God has directed our steps and led us to a place where they know exactly how to handle somethings unexpected like this. The surgeon will be operating on Friday morning at 10am, and still resecting the colon, removing any other possible visible tumors, removing the omentum, and then ending with a HIPEC treatment. That's a heated chemotherapy bath in the body cavity - to try to get any stray cells that may be lurking there.
We are admittedly a little discouraged at more difficult news, but we will continue to walk closely with the Lord on this journey. Will you please pray with us for Mike's healing? We are also praying that God will be glorified in this - whether that be through a miracle on our behalf, or by giving his strength and encouragement on a long road to healing, or by holding our hands as we let his light shine through this difficult time. We are so encouraged moment by moment for the peace and comfort that He gives! Would you also pray for our kids? Quinn is with us as I'm still nursing him, but the others are 10 hours away at home with Mike' parents. They really sound like they're doing well...but Grandpa and Grandma have a heavy load as they're busy with the other 4, plus all the cows to milk. And, we know that we will still be away 2 weeks+.
Thank you all!
Love,

Kathleen
