Re: Notebooking Pages: plans to print in NON high-gloss paper?
These tips may help ease your frustration a bit. For narrations and other written work, my children use the Frixion Erasable Pens on them in black ink. They dry very quickly, and if there is an error, they are easily correctable. My kids draw their timeline entries with Prismacolor colored pencils a...

Re: Understanding HS Credits
I have a question about online transcript services, if you don't mind me asking here. I saw several of you use Transcript Maker. When I went to their website, I noticed they offer yearly memberships. If it is best to add to the transcript during each year of high school, as opposed to waiting until ...

Re: Online Planners vs Paper Planners
You may find this thread helpful. I posted pictures of the check off sheets I created to keep track of lessons completed. As it has the dates and unit numbers, it could also serve as an attendance record. Grades could easily be placed in the boxes instead of a checkmark for whatever subjects you pre...

Calculator for Algebra 1
I have been reviewing the Foerster Algebra 1 textbook and can't determine if a specific calculator is necessary. We have a scientific calculator we used sparingly with Principles of Math. Will that do? Or would a specific graphing calculator be a good idea? Any help would be appreciated!
Thank you!
Thank you!

Re: Grading in the World Geography Guide. . . .
I just want to thank you all so much for this board! I have consulted the search bar many times and always find wisdom from Carrie, Julie and all the fabulous mamas! With high school beginning for my oldest this fall, I am trying to get my end all figured out. These posts on grading and transcripts ...

MtMM WorthyWords
Hello HOD family! My daughter was trying to access the NY Times article "Gandhi is Killed by a Hindu" (Unit 21 Day 2 in MtMM) and we can't access it without a subscription. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there another site we could try? Any help you can provide would be very appreciated! Thank...

Re: Dictation: Question and Request
You've already gotten great responses, but I thought I would add my two cents. I borrowed this idea from someone either on this board or on a blog about HOD. Over the summer, when I have more time, I photocopy all the dictation passages for the coming year. Then I trim each passage to fit on an inde...

Elements: Ingredients of the Universe
Hi all! My MtMM daughter just started her Elements book this week and simply adores it. I was wondering if it is meant to be used as a consumable workbook or if the lessons should be written elsewhere? The introduction suggests having a separate 3 ring binder for this text, so it made me think work ...

Re: Nature Journal for MTMM?
I am gathering supplies for MtMM and trying to figure out what glossy paper to buy. It looks like in the past people have recommended glossy scrapbook papers or finger painting paper. Has anyone found either of these to better than another? Is there another option to consider? I've been flipping thr...

Re: Looking for ideas to keep MAMA accountable
This was probably the one area I was most concerned about when I began homeschooling. I scoured this board and I read every Heart of Dakota blog post and grabbed snippets of advice from all of you! I ended up devising a schedule for my kids, alternating Independent and Together boxes, so when one (o...

Singapore Home Instructor's Guide
My daughter will be working through Singapore Math 5 A and B this year and I was wondering if any of you found the Home Instructor's Guide necessary. I did not order it but am wondering if it would be worth having. Any input will be appreciated!
