I read the substitution policy on the website. Still kind of confused.
I am just afraid to purchase and type in my list of substitutions without getting some kind of ok from HOD.
Thanks!

Substitutions to packages
I have a question about substitutions to the packages. Per a suggestion given by Carrie a few months ago while trying to figure this all out, I decided to have my older daughter, who will be doing WG, and younger daughter, who will be doing CTC, work together for Bible study and do Genesis Finding O...

WG literature questions
I read on the the website that the literature selections and the BJU Fundamentals of Literature in the World Geography guide are alternated throughout the year. Do the books they are supposed to be reading tie in with whatever they are studying in the BJU text? Or were they chosen for some other rea...

Thank you again, Carrie! This is a relief to me and feels very right. I can now get down to the planning!

Re: CTC for 7th and 8th grade?
We have used the Charlotte Mason approach from the beginning of our homeschooling years (kindergarten), so lots of oral narration practice. We have used Simply Charlotte Mason plans extensively, while also mixing in some more classical approaches (ala Well Trained Mind/Bluedorns) along the way. All ...

Re: CTC for 7th and 8th grade?
I just keep coming back and editing, so I decided to add another post. I'm wordy. Sorry. The more I look at the CTC guide samples and study the book selections, the more I think it would offer my 6th grader this year/7th next year daughter plenty of challenge because of the dyslexia, especially if w...

Re: CTC for 7th and 8th grade?
Thank you so much, Carrie! My current 6th grader (7th Grader referred to in my OP) has never used a complete HOD guide. She did DITHOR level 4/5 with the girl's 4/5 books last year (her 5th grade year). This year she is taking history and literature classes at a two day a week private school type se...

Re: CTC for 7th and 8th grade?
They aren't placed well, to be honest. The issue is this: They will most likely enter public school for high school due to circumstances beyond my control. Our school system does not offer any ancient history at all. Since all of my children finished the "cycle" of history this year with a study of ...

Re: CTC for 7th and 8th grade?
That is a very helpful post. Now I have more specific questions! For the Storytime section in CTC should we replace those books from the basic set with the extension package for my older students to read alone? I wanted to add in some other literature to beef up the ancient stuff (possibly the Iliad...

CTC for 7th and 8th grade?
I have done a search, but am having a hard time finding much. Not very good at this message board thing. Can someone point me to some resources for beefing up CTC for older children? We will for sure use the extension pack, but I need some help and suggestions for science and literature. I am thinki...

Re: World Geography placement?
Good information! Thank you! My 12 year old daughter has completed the DITHOR guide for 6/7/8 once already. Don't really want to do that one again. We read aloud a lot or do audio books while she follows along in a print version to help her with reading comprehension. I would love to do CTC as we ne...

World Geography placement?
Hi, I'm new here, but we have used Heart of Dakota curriculum. We are using Missions to Modern Marvels currently. I am trying to decide what to do next year. I will have a somewhat advanced 13 year old who is ready for high school level work (and has done some this year in math and science while com...
