Re: HOD use All American History Vol. 1?
Volume 1 is not used in Rev to Rev or in the new American History guide so I assume that it will not be used in HOD.

Re: results from the neuropsychologist
Gwenny, I can definitely identify with you about feeling like you're crazy! My husband and I have both felt this when working with our son who often seems so capable but other times seems unable to follow even the simplest instructions. We have also received comments ranging from accusations ...

Re: Day 5 Ideas
Outside classes: Co-op, PE class, sports team practice, group Bible study with other homeschooled kids, dance, etc. Actually, we spread the guide out over 5 days because all of our outside activities do not fall on the same day.

Re: Church History in RtR?
Yes, church history is found throughout RTR. The books Peril & Peace and Monks & Mystics contain many character sketches of people from church history. The church was actively involved in all of life during the Middle Ages so there is lots of mention of it in the Story of the Middle Ages. The people...

Re: Placement test for DITHOR???
There is no placement test for DITHOR. You can look at the samples of the student books to see the differences between the different levels and choose the one that you child can complete easily. Basically, you can go with grade level or slightly lower than grade level. I've seen Carrie recommend the...

Re: recommendation for 7 and 9 year old and 16 year old
Also, another great thing about HOD is their customer service! If you call them, they will help you with placement decisions for your oldest. I believe that they are traveling back from a convention early this week, but if you call and leave a message they will return your call. Although I haven't n...

Re: Middle School Math - BEFORE Foerster's Algebra
If it is just you that doesn't like the word problems, then I would go with No Nonsense Algebra. That is a good simple text. I would only count it as Algebra 1 for a child that has significant problems in math (most likely due to learning disabilities). Otherwise it is more an Algebra 1/2 (0.5) cou...

One-Year American History??
Before finding HOD last year, I had planned for my DS to take one year (1 credit) each of Geography, American History, & World History, then 1/2 year/credit each of Government and Economics/Personal Finance. I'm trying to determine if I can make this plan work using HOD. Last year (7th grade) he com...

Re: Scheduling CTC and Beyond
I haven't done Beyond so I can't speak to that, but much of the CTC guide is done independently. Would this work: Let the CTC kids do independent work first while you work with Beyond, then allow the Beyond kids work independently while you check CTC independent work and then do T & I work with them...

Science in RevToRev and WG
What is the difference between the physical science in RevToRev and the Physics portion of the WG program? Next year, I will have a 9th grader in RevToRev. I am trying to decide whether to use the RevToRev science using the advanced kit instead of the basic, or whether to use the science from WG. Wi...

New to HOD
I will soon be starting CTC with my 13 1/2 year old son. We will start at about week 12-14 because we are changing from a different curriculum where we have been studying ancient history. My son has some learning delays, and I believe this guide will be a great fit for him. We will do it without ext...
