Re: Charlotte Mason: Indoors vs outdoors
We're a suburban family too. We have just a backyard and a driveway too, but these are some of the things that we do to ensure lots of outside time for our boys: Dad does a walk/bike ride with them as soon as he gets home from work. This helps him relieve stress and spend some quality time with them...

Re: Help with placement for 5 year old
It sounds like our sons are very similar. I would love to do LHFHG starting this fall when he is 5 1/2, but he is still really struggling with fine motor skills and writing. I've decided to give him an extra year to develop these skills and take it easy for K. I'm planning to do LHTH with his little...

What do you use for record keeping?
Our state does not require any record keeping, just that we cover five subjects. We're wanting to keep some kind of log of what we do for school each day. Since HOD is planned out, I'm thinking we don't really need a planner, just a log or journal to note the HOD covered and anything we add, since w...

Re: New Edition of Little Hearts?
I was wondering the same. I would like to be able to buy the new edition, but don't know when it will be available and if that will work for our start date. It would also be helpful to know if the price is going to change significantly. If I will be waiting to purchase the new edition, I will be pur...

Thank you for the replies. They have been helpful.
So has anyone had problems taking a summer break (say 2-3 months) while in the middle of a guide?

Do you go year-round or when do you start your year?
We're brand new to homeschooling, and I'm noticing that homeschoolers have a variety of schedules. I know many people follow the public school schedule, but I'm wondering if some people would be interested in sharing when you start your academic year, or if you go year-round, and why? I'm trying to ...

Re: Has anyone done the same guide twice in a row? Advice pl
Thank you for the response. My husband and I actually spent about an hour yesterday discussing our options. We really feel like our son places more with LHFHG. He has been in preschool for two and a half years, and at this point I think he would not be challenged enough reviewing the letters, number...

Has anyone done the same guide twice in a row? Advice please
I'm looking at LHFHG for my 5 1/2 y.o. in the fall, but I'm trying to figure out the timing on all of it and could use some advice. My son has been in special needs preschool since age 3, and I will be bringing him home now that he is finished. He has delays in fine motor skills and writing. In look...
