What do you use for record keeping?

Post by amylynn_101 » Mon May 13, 2013 1:51 pm

Our state does not require any record keeping, just that we cover five subjects. We're wanting to keep some kind of log of what we do for school each day. Since HOD is planned out, I'm thinking we don't really need a planner, just a log or journal to note the HOD covered and anything we add, since we will be choosing our own phonics, math and handwriting and possible supplementing some science. I prefer not to write in our HOD books, so I'm just wondering what others have used? And how do you make it work for more than one child?

Thanks!
Amanda

if you really want to keep a record we have used a cheap planner form the dollar store, and we have used Homeschoolskedtrack.
Personally I prefer the cheap book.

For your records, you can copy the Table of Contents of your HOD guide and jot the date next to each unit as you complete it. You can also copy the 'Introduction" and note in the margin the choices you made for each subject area (i.e Singapore Math 3A/3B, Dictation Level 3, R & S English 4, etc.). This can then be placed in a small 3-ring binder and added to each year. This is just an idea! HTH! :D

Thanks Julie! I love your suggestion. I believe I will do that when I make up my own "planner" for the year.
