Re: Placement advice for 8th and 9th graders

Hello, Thank you for the insights, Nealewill. Every year, I pray over our course for the following year and weigh the season we are in, as well as, strengths and weaknesses. I considered Rev to Rev, but I think it would be too easy for my daughter and adding on too much would be hard for me to track...

Re: Placement advice for 8th and 9th graders

Thanks, Lynn that's helpful. I wonder if we could proceed another year separated with my daughter in WG and my son in MTMM. They can do science together. Then the following year, they do WH, Ah1, Ah2 and then he jump back to WG? I've not seen many posts on combining for high school. I might be searc...

Placement advice for 8th and 9th graders

Hello, I'm looking for some wisdom regarding placement. My 8th grade daughter has done every guide since Bigger except Rev to Rev. She's currently doing MTMM. My 7th grade son is doing Rev To Rev with MTMM science and has done every guide since Bigger. Here are my options with some thoughts and rele...

Re: Help with reducing fractions Singapore 4A

Hi there, We have used Khan academy online for help. Have you tried that? It is a free site that is well organized by skill level and they will teach the concept briefly and kids can do practice problems. It has helped us for things like remainders, reducing fractions etc.... when we needed some ext...

Re: Problem w/ Energy...Motivation...ME!!

Hi there, I am also super tired--more than usual, but I am pregnant so this is likely the reason. I have created a schedule that rotates between kids so I can be mostly done all major subjects by 12:30 or so. Then I can rest a bit and regroup later for the rest of school. I try to have the break coi...

Re: worried to continue on!!!

Hi, Carrie's suggestion to get vision checked is a great one too. I have several friends whose children have struggled with reading due to vision problems. Their problems were corrected with vision therapy not glasses. For one of the kids, her eyes would not focus together, so she could not read thr...

Re: Used with ESL Older Adopted Children?

Hello, How old are the kids you are adopting? A good phonics program with audio/video of the sounds and words would be best...having them write out the words along with is ideal. Of course, they will need the basics in vocabulary when they come..household items, foods, hygiene, conversation etc...I ...

Re: Preparing Science Questions

Hmmm...not sure if there is a right or wrong way to do this. I require my kids to answer in complete sentences, because I think it gives them extra practice working on good sentence structure. I think it also reinforces the info in their brains when they have to write it out completely. I am not sur...

Re: SM Questions

This is a good thread, as I have SM questions too. My daughter is beginning 5b soon, and she is in Preparing with extensions for 5th grade. I am wondering how to plan her math out for the next few years. I suppose we'll start algebra in 8th grade, but then what do we do in the next 2 years--do we sp...

So exciting and fun to see the sneak peeks. We are still 4 years away from this guide, but it looks great so far. Our co-op uses these resources for logic also. They look terrific and fun. :D
