Re: IEW in a co-op setting
I have taught the original IEW in a co-op setting. My daughter is getting ready to do the Myths and Fairytales version next co-op so I know the themes can be done. The only thing I wish I had known to was to print out the checklist to include with each paper I graded. It would have been a bigger hel...

Re: Struggling Learner Getting Further and Further Behind
I have kids who are dyslexic. For them, I continue to read out loud to them long after the guides say they should be doing it independently. For Apologia science, I buy the audio books so they can follow along as it's being read to them. Also, I allow them to type as much as possible since that seem...

Re: MTMM High School Credit Description/Form
Did anyone ever come up with something for this? I'd just hate to re-invent the wheel if it's been done already.

Re: high school help
Julie, Thanks for a speedy response. I hope all is going well with Carrie's son getting treatment that he needs. Kate plans to attend a Christian College for a Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design. NC doesn't officially have state standards for homeschoolers so we are flexible, but we are aiming for t...

high school help
My daughter has done most of the HOD programs from LHTH through MTMM. She dabbled in WG for 9th grade, but asked to try a World History textbook instead. She did ok with that, but missed the living books. For 10th grade, she's been using Sonlight 100 for American History. The history part is ok, but...

Have you tried the series God's Design? It may be what you're looking for as it has different levels to pick from.

skipping from WG to US1 ?
I have a daughter who is doing really well in her studies and is wanting to skip into the US 1 history guide next year. She would prefer to study the topics that are covered in that guide. She has come up through using all the HOD guides, so is there any reason she couldn't skip from WG to US1?

CTC Unit 29 Day 1 science ?
We are in unit 29 day 1 of CTC and I'm not sure about an answer to the science question. Exploring the History of Medicine says the answer to question #2 on page 85 is False, but my son showed me a passage that seems to make the statement true. The question reads: The only difference between galacto...

Did anyone ever get the times posted for these guides? Now that it's buying season again, there will be more people questioning this. (Including me)

Re: How are skills taught for learning to study for/take a t
We've done all the guides through Rev to Rev. In Rev to Rev, the science has quizzes built into it. I believe there are also unit tests. They aren't long, but they test the knowledge gained from the unit. My daughter doesn't study for them, but you do use the quizzes and tests toward the final grade...

Re: Any HOD families in Tn, Georgia,Fl, South Carolina ?
We are in North Carolina. Our area has a lot of retired people who were looking to escape the cold north as well as a lot of young families. In my exact location, I can participate in at least 3 co-ops if we wanted. There are 4 or 5 Christian schools within 30 or so minutes drive. I can get to a big...

Re: The *S* word - socialization
My personal opinion, for what it's worth, is that today's families are too busy. We love that our schedule is not too busy to eat together each evening and spend time on the weekends with Dad when he's available. Not to say that my kids don't have any friends, but we choose to limit our time outside...
